An Ironman? That’s serious business. The long-distance triathlete includes a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bikd ride, and 26.2-mile run (otherwise known as a marathon). It ain’t for the timid, that’s for sure.
But plenty of us have fantasized about being an Ironman. The accomplishment! The athletic prowess! The chance to casually drop “Well, when I was competing in the Ironman…” into every conversation! We fantasize all right. Over pizza. Or as we’re hitting the snooze button instead of going to the gym. It’s okay. We can’t all be Ironman finishers.
Except we can. If we really want to. Or we can just hang out with Ironman finishers and live vicariously through their stories and maybe, just maybe, take a spin class with one.
On Saturday at Quest Cycle in Portland you can meet Pro Ironman triathlete Michael ‘Michi’ Weiss. He won the Ironman in Cozumel, Mexico this past December.
He’ll be in attendance at all four classes Saturday (7:30 am, 9:30 am, 11 am and 1 pm) to give autographs and to share tips on how to kill it at your first triathlon (or improve on your next one). But if you want to actually ride with him, be sure to sign up with the 9:30 am class.
