Portland Paddle popping up in Westbrook for calm river rides this summer

Imagine floating down a calm river in a kayak while listening to local bands play in a nearby park. Sounds like a lovely summer evening to me.

Portland Paddle announced today that they’re going to rent kayaks and paddleboards on the Presumpscot River this summer at Westbrook’s Riverbank Park. Because the river is so calm, any beginner could paddle it from Saccarappa Falls to the historic elms.

To make the paddle sweeter, Westbrook’s Summer Concert Series on Wednesdays and the Saturday morning farmers market coincide with the rental schedule, which starts this Saturday:

Wednesdays noon-7 p.m.
Saturdays 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Sundays 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

The company won’t offer lessons or tours like it does at its East End Beach location in Portland. Rentals start at $10 an hour and go up to $45 for half a day. For more information visit portlandpaddle.net.
