This weekend, put that melting snow to good use during the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race in Bangor. There’s also outdoor adventure to be had at Acadia. Record Store Day is also this weekend, as is a chance to prove your awesomeness by bike riding from Portland to Portsmouth along with The Epic Man.

For mustache wearers and the people who love them, this is your weekend. The Stache Pag returns on Saturday, along with a facial hair farmers market and other related events. There’s also beer and comedy, a high school battle of the bands, and a firefighters race this weekend. And let’s not forget the rare chance to ride a bike on an ice rink.

You have a chance to do some amazing things with cardboard this weekend (specifically, ride it down a mountain). Craft a sled from cardboard and duct tape for the Cardboard Box Race at Camden’s Snow Bowl. There’s also a record sale (for those who know what records are) at Portland’s Flea-for-All, which runs in conjunction with First Friday Art Walk. Learn some circus arts during the Circus Atlantic open house and end the weekend with dinner’s two best parts – the cocktails and the dessert – during the Signature Event Cocktail and Dessert Competition. Oh, and in between you can get yourself hypnotized and buy and boyfriend!

Eating. And dancing. Those are the ingredients for a happy life. They’re also on the docket for this weekend. Maine Restaurant Week starts Saturday, which means it’s time for you to start deciding which restaurants you’re going to hit and which of those specially priced three-course meals you’re going to start with first. There’s also the Incredible Breakfast Cook-off, pancake race, and Cajun Cook-off to look forward to. The STRIVE Rocks dance marathon is a chance to burn of the calories and shake it ’til the cows come home (or 9 am, whichever comes first).

There’s a chance that winter’s wearing on you. There’s a chance that one more snowfall could break you – emotionally speaking. But I’m asking you to toughen up, hang on, and show winter who’s boss. And the best way to show winter who’s boss is to build a sledding hill in the middle of the street (except don’t actually do that, because cars and sledding don’t mix). In Old Orchard Beach, they’re closing down Old Orchard Street and building a sledding hill – IN THE STREET! In Lewiston and Freeport, ice is the center of attention, with ice bars in both towns. For folks who want to stay in, catch a screening of the 2014 Oscar-nominated shorts or a performance of the one-woman show “Big Mouth Thunder Thighs.”

So we’ve got snow. That fact might not warm your heart, but you know what will? Handmade Valentine’s Day cards from MECA students. Check out Lovapalooza during First Friday Art Walk for all the V-Day-related art your little heart can handle. This weekend is also chock full of sledding, with the U.S. National Toboggan Championships and Snowman Adventure Race. There’s a game day for film fans, BANFF festival for outdoors film fans, and an afternoon of FREE CHOCOLATE. Should I have started with that?
