ShaShaSha, Elijah Ocean & David Tanklefsky fill the Empire with beautiful music tonight

I think this Thursday might be experiencing a slight identity crisis because with all the great stuff going on tonight it sure is acting a lot like Friday. Let’s check it out, eh?

If you happen to be up in the Central Maine area this Thursday evening, take in some early tunes down at Paddy Murphy’s in Bangor where starting at 6 o’clock Mes Amis will be playing. Mes Amis will be providing some swinging jazz for your Thirsty Thursday soundtrack, so stop by and check ‘em out.

Portland garage rockers, Whale Oil invite you to grab a drink with them this Thursday evening as they perform a special set over at Bunker Brewing Company on Anderson Street in Portland. Starting at 7 you can check out these fellas as they rock your early evening with some good tunes that pair perfectly with some handcrafted beer.

A great evening of indie folk-pop will be happening early this Thursday evening at One Longfellow Square in Portland where starting at 7 you can check out sets from Pete Miller, Chris Velan and Ria Mae.

Down at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in downtown Portland, local ladies, Pretty Girls Sing Soprano will be filling the space with beautiful sounds and songs starting right around 7 o’clock. Since their inception Pretty Girls Sing Soprano have quickly turned heads with their tight, clever and original harmonies, be sure to check out their free show this evening if you’re be-bopping around town!

Blue on Congress Street in Portland gears up for a night full of local singer-songwriters as Trevor Geiger takes the stage at 7 o’clock followed by Christian Cuff at 9.

An awesome event for those of you love jazz will be taking place over at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in the Old Port. Tonight the ever-talented Megan Jo Wilson teams up with a trio of talented fellas for an evening of unique interpretations of great jazz standards as the Birdland Jazz Quartet. Music begins at 8 o’clock and rolls right on through to the 9 o’clock hour.

The English Beat returns to Portland with a night chock full fun and ska down at Port City Music Hall on Congress Street. Things get cranking right around 8 o’clock with an opening set from Portland’s own with El Grande.

The Dapper Gents will be rocking out their own brand of acoustic folk-pop tonight over at The Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland. Anticipate some good times and good tunes with these fellas beginning at 8 o’clock.

If you’re up in Lewiston tonight make your way down to Irish Twins Pub for another edition of open mic night with singer-songwriter Matt Fournier. Grab your ax and get ready to bust out some jams as tonight’s event gets underway right around 8.

If you find yourself in the Southern Maine region this Thursday evening be sure to check out an excellent show at The Hive in Kennebunk. Starting at 8 o’clock you’ll be able to check out soulful acoustic folk sets from Heather Styka and Paddy Mills.

Again, if you’re Thursdaying down in southern Maine, then check out a free rock n’ roll show over at The Run of the Mill in Saco, which gets underway right around 8 o’clock, featuring local rockers Tilden Katz.

80s band, The Awesome joins forces with the Rockland Professional Firefighters Local 1584 for a night of awesome nostalgia-infused tunes to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The party starts at Trackside Restaurant in Rockland right around 8:30.

Local psychedelic rock n’ roll act, ShaShaSha teams up with former Portland music maven, Elijah Ocean and his band for an evening of musical mischief down at the Empire on Congress Street in Portland tonight. It’s ShaShaSha’s first time playing Portland since their album release party in August so anticipate everything from psyched out jams to folky rock as things get underway with an opening set courtesy of Boston’s David Tanklefsky right around 9pm.

The Big Easy‘s regular, chilled out Thursday crowd will be shuffling in right around 9 for this week’s Band Beyond Description show. What to expect: hula hoops, hippies, and good times for all with Portland’s favorite Grateful Dead cover band, who actually cover way more than just The Dead. So if you’re into mellowing your mind, get your can over to The Big Easy.

Get on down to Gritty’s in Portland to check out the fellas in Vinyl Tap as they cover everything from Sir Elton to The Beatles, Cee Lo and many, many more. If you’re looking for a non-stop dance party, then swing through as they start playing at 9 and there’s never, ever a cover charge.

Hello Newman is ready once again to pump out the jams with a free night of fun upstairs at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Starting at 9:30, the fellas will be rockin’ all of your favorite 90s tunes. There’s never a cover, so check it out if you’re feeling a little nostalgic this evening.

Kilcollins will be pop-rockin’ all night long over at RiRa on Commercial Street this thirsty Thursday. Starting at 9:30 Kilcollins will be rockin’ you with all sorts of tunes that you know in love alongside some catchy original songs. Tonight’s show is free, so check it out if you’re downtown this evening.
