Where to shop on black friday without waiting in line
Happy Thanksgiving! Tomorrow is the day of reckoning in the retail world: Black Friday. If you’re not looking for a great deal on a flat-screen TV or a new laptop, chances are you don’t really need to be up at 5 a.m. for a deal. In fact, I’m committed to buying from local boutiques this holiday season since my list is small and my family is impossible to buy for.
I’ll be braving the crowds in town on Friday to get started on holiday shopping. Here are some spots you might want to check out – and maybe you’ll see me there!
Portland Flea-for-All: The flea is open on Friday! Hurray! They are opening their doors early and you’ll have endless options here with three floors of vendors, antiques, art and handmade wares. Vendors are offering customers deals too, which you can check out here. Doors open at 10.
Bliss Boutique: Swing into Bliss on Exchange Street and save 10% off your entire order and 30% off all sweaters. I’ve had my eye on a few.
Old Port Cardworks: Their shelves are stocked with holiday cards. You might as well check that off your list too while you’re out and about! They also have a 10% off coupon available here.
The Merchant Company: I’ll be able to pick up something for anyone in this shop. They’ve extended their hours and will be open until 8p.m. so you can swing in and shop after the tree is lit in Monument Square.
Joseph’s: All Loyal Citizen tees are marked down at 2 for $50 (normally $38 a piece) and all outerwear is 20% off. Plus they’re adding a 10% bonus to all gift cards – so if you buy a $100 gift card, they’ll up it to $110!
Portland Dry Goods: Select fall merchandise is marked at 20% off and so are their signature oxford cloth shirts – a good time to give them a try since these rarely go on sale.
And DON’T forget about to bring your local coupons with you!
