The Maine Dish

Two more tasty new year’s eve options…plus snag vip passes to club festivities.

Last week I told you about the Camden Harbour Inn’s champagne-intensive New Year’s Eve package. Well, if you’re not into the Old Port mayhem but you’re not quite ready for the “ball drop on t.v.” brand of ringing in the New Year, here’s a couple more options you should know about.

  • Fill your belly with old school comfort food at Academe at the Kennebunk Inn. On the à la carte menu you’ll find classic French onion soup with smoked Gruyere cheese gratin.  The Triple Threat Fried Chicken & Waffles, done sous vide in buttermilk, fried, and served with egg nog waffles, spiced honey, toasted pecans and ranch slaw sounds like a winner. For reservations call 207-985-3351.
  • Free Tapas at Local 188 from 10-midnight and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Sober up on January 1 with all you can eat paellas (meat, veggie, and seafood) or keep the party going as the bar will be up and running. Call 207-761-7909

If you still prefer to get your party on with a crowd, check out NYE2013 for a list of Portland clubs offering up the bass-pumping soundtrack you need and order your general admission or VIP line skipping all-access passes to four hot spots.
