The Maine Dish
Shepherd’s Pie at Brian Boru, Portland, ME
What does a girl do after a ten hour day spent consulting in a 10,000 sq. ft. university dining facility kitchen? She eats something containing mashed potatoes (are we starting to see a theme here with this County girl and her potatoes?). And my favorite vehicle for spud comfort is Brian Boru’s Shepherd’s Pie, $12 of post-work bliss. Straight up ground beef, carrots, onions, and rich Guinness gravy serves as a base for a raft of the most flawlessly smooth potatoes I’ve found. It’s easily enough for two people, but I’ll stab you with my fork if you come near mine.
If you wa
nt parsley, you’ll have to go somewhere else. But if you want an ice cold Harp and a screeching hot dish of awesomeness, this is your place.
