Sorcha & The Clearing make their debut as a five-piece tonight at One Longfellow Square

Almost there, my Party Pants clad babies we are almost there! It’s almost the freakin’ weekend and holy Hot Pockets (catch phrase, write it down because I’m bringing it back and making it happen!) am I ready to have some fun! Thankfully tonight will ease us into the party known as the weekend so here is what’s happening all around town for your weekend pre-game!

One Longfellow in Portland invites everyone along to celebrate the debut of Sorcha & The Clearing tonight as the venue gears up for a night that should be chock full of soul, rock, country, funk, folk and everything in between. Sorcha & The Clearing debut with their new five piece blues, jazz, country and Latin influenced ensemble alongside special guests the Connor Garvey Band and Rusty Belle. The fun starts right around 8 o’clock this evening, so stop on by and check it out.

Down Congress Street a few blocks, over at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland, Pete Witham and his Cozmik Zombies gear up for another night of high-energy, twisted rockabilly tunes. Each and every thirsty Thursday night Pete and the fellas will be playing downstairs for free starting at 7:30.

Jazz and folk singer Julie Thompson joins forces with her ensembler troupe High Standards for an evening of tasty tunes down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in the Old Port. Starting at 8 o’clock you can check out this jazzy act as they play, for free, right on through to the 11 o’clock hour.

A few self-proclaimed dweebs get ready to tickle your funny bones over at Geno’s Rock Club on Congress Street this Thursday evening. Tonight Connor McGrath, Kurt Baker, Anders J. Neilsen and Adam Ferguson team up to take to the stage for an evening of talk that will not only entertain, but also inform. Joining the fellas will be some choice special guests. They promise to make attendance worth your while, so check ‘em out and give ‘em a noogie if need be starting at 9.

Pop-rockers Kilcollins play their regular thirsty Thursday night gig over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland tonight.  Beginning at 9:30, these fellas will be rockin’ and rollin’ to all the classic cover tunes you know and love, so check ‘em out.

If you’re looking to get down to some good tunes this Thursday night then mosey on over to the Brian Boru where Doubting Gravity will be getting the party started right around 9 o’clock. Andi Fawcett and the gents of Doubting Gravity will be brining you the best original pop rock tunes around, so grab a beer and shake your can this evening.

If you’re looking to bust a move to tunes from bands such as Sublime, Blink 182, and say maybe even, Chumbawumba, then you can always head on down to Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port where 90s cover band Hello Newman will be getting the party started right around 9:30.

Maybe you need to bust some moves and mellow your mind tonight, well good thing you can do just that right on over at The Big Easy in Portland for another fun night with Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these fellas will jam out on everything from the Allman Brothers, Phish, The Band and more. Anticipate good times, good people, and maybe even a few hula-hoops starting right around 9:30.

Vinyl Tap get ready to bring the Thursday night thunder once again to Gritty’s in the Old Port this evening. These fellas are known for making people bust a move to their awesome and exceedingly danceable cover tunes that vary from Huey Lewis to Cee Lo Green, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and everything in between. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer, so chck it out starting at 9:30 tonight.
