From bluegrass at Empire Dine & Dance to funk at The Big Easy, Monday offers up a multitude of options to choose from

Oh, Monday, you sneaky mistress, always turning up when everyone least expects you.  Thankfully there are plenty of ways to actually enjoy your time with Monday, as there are lots of things happening all around this evening, so let’s give them a look-see, shall we?

Local singer-songwriter Connor Garvey will be doing his thing at Flatbread Company on Commercial Street in Portland this evening. Enjoy some delicious food while Connor brings his soulful, indie rock tunes to life starting at 6 o’clock this evening.

Stay warm and toasty this Monday night downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland where local act The Grassholes will be serving up some feel good bluegrass tunes. Kick back and enjoy the show, which is free and gets underway right around 8pm this Monday evening.

More free Monday night action takes place over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland where Evan Walsh aka EvGuy will be hosting his regular open mic night. Every Monday, EvGuy takes to the stage for his own version of what he lovingly refers to as an “adult talent show.” The event begins at 8 o’clock and instruments are always on hand for those that want to play. If you can’t pluck a guitar, no worries, as EvGuy will be more than happy to bang out a manageable version of a tune for you to sing along to. Check it out and if you’re downtown this evening.

Monday’s bring the funk to The Big Easy in Portland where another installment of The Players Ball will be taking place tonight. The Players Ball features a house band of some super, talented local musicians who come together to play not only together but also with audience members who bring along instruments to jam out on a stage. It’s a great networking event for anyone who plays music, so check it out once things get underway right around 9 o’clock.

Portland’s psych-rocker Jeff Beam takes to the stage of The Red Door in Portsmouth, NH this evening for a rare solo gig. Beam will be playing some stripped down versions of tunes starting at 8. Local acts Black Window Music and Stone Monkey will also be on hand to provide some songs for your Monday night soundtrack.
