By: Holly Nunan

All right, so there’s a little bit of white stuff falling from the sky today, but it’s New Year’s Eve, Eve, Eve! The excitement is palpable and I know that you guys are just as pumped as I am to get this Saturday night going, so let’s check out what’s shaking this evening.

If you’re looking to rock hard this Saturday evening then make your way over to The Veterans Center on Roosevelt Trail in Windham for a killer show featuring Vanna, Lions Lions, Too Late The Hero, Foreign Tongues, State Champs, and Mara. Things get cranking early at 6 o’clock, so check it out.

Don’t let a little bit of snow keep you in tonight, instead check out another great show up on Munjoy Hill in Portland as the Jerks of Grass get set to perform at the beautiful St. Lawrence Art Center. Check it out and warm on up to some sweet acoustic bluegrass performed by Portland’s premier bluegrass troupe. The party starts right around 7 o’clock.

More in the vein of country and bluegrass will be happening on stage at the majestic State Theatre in Portland this evening as The Devil Makes Three performs alongside Brown Bird for a night of terrific tunes. Tickets are still available for this show that starts right around 8.

Things are going to get classic rock crazy up in The Asylum Portland tonight as Draw The Line, the only Aerosmith cover band to actually be endorsed by Aerosmith, takes the stage alongside local rockers Fifth Freedom. The party starts at 8 o’clock tonight.

If you’re looking to check out some great indie rock for free this evening then be sure to make your way down to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland for a tremendous triple bill featuring Lost Romance, Come Back Pluto and Corey Bryant. Things get underway right around 8 tonight.

Pittsburgh rockers, rollers, and everything in between, Rusted Root take to the stage of Port City Music Hall on Congress Street this Saturday evening for a pre-New Year’s party. Kicking things off will be Portland’s own soul/rock act Anna & The Diggs, who will get things started right around 8 o’clock.

Oh man, a terrific show is going down at The Big Easy in Portland tonight as members of Sly-Chi, Murder of Crows, The Fogcutters, Model Airplane and more join the overwhelmingly talented Miss Kenya Hall in paying tribute to the Messenger of Peace himself, Stevie Wonder. This should be a night of epic proportions as these talented cats some together to celebrate a man who has been an amazing influence on the majority of their own original music. Things get started around 9 with a special set from Brooklyn harmonic player Will Galison, so get there early and check it out.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland will keep you warm and toasty all evening long with a post-Apocalypse-after-Christmas-pre-New Year’s-Winter Party! Tonight three great DJs join forces to keep your booty starting at 9 and with absolutely no cover, so hike up those Party Pants and get down.

Things get funky upstairs at Empire Dine and Dance on Congress Street in Portland tonight with Chaos Sauce and Shut Down Brown who promise to keep you dancing the night away with their blends of progressive, rock, funk, and soul. There’s no cover, so check it out as things get started right around 9pm.
