I know that I’ve been a wee bit dramatic this week, but I seriously feel as if I could weep uncontrollably at the fact that I’ve made it to Wednesday. I don’t know what my deal is, but I’m struggling to keep on keeping on this week and if you’re as ecstatic about it being Wednesday as I am, I’ve got some party places for you to check out this evening. Let’s hike ‘em up and do it to it! We got this, Wednesday.
Things are gonna get real singer-songwritery over at the majestic State Theatre in Portland as the immensely talented Brandi Carlile returns this evening. Carlile, who spent most of her life immersed in country music, is noted as one of Sir Elton John’s favorites. The chick knows what’s up and tonight she’ll be joined by country folk rockers Blitzen Trapper for a night of musical goodness. Things get started over at The State right around 8 o’clock.
What a cool place Flask Lounge in Portland is. One night they’ve got house music and DJs and the next they’ve got acoustic tunes from singer-songwriters. Tonight local musician Jason Melanson will be playing tunes off his latest album, In Shambles alongside Pittsburgh folk roots rocker Chet Vincent. Tonight’s show is sure to be fun and is also wicked free so check it out beginning at 8 o’clock tonight. One Longfellow Square has really broadened its horizons musically by featuring everyone from Eric Bettencourt to Spose to a Band tribute band and pretty much everything in between. They recently received their non-profit status and are proud to announce the selection of their new Executive Director Kippy Rudy with a party for the masses! Tonight everyone is welcome to a free party starting at 8 o’clock that will feature Portland’s own Lady Zen. If you’ve not bore witness to the incomparable Lady Zen, then tonight’s the night to do so. Zen will keep the party rolling with her unique take on soul, jazz and R&B. Again, it’s free, it’s early and it’s gonna be one helluva celebration so be sure to swing on by OLS and check it out!
The Clash of the Titans continues this Wednesday evening with a battle between some whiney Brits. Come see who can say more cuss words on stage as Oasis takes on Blur upstairs at Empire Dine and Dance starting at 9 o’clock.
If you’re looking to get into the Halloween spirit by getting down to some spooky tunes, then swing by Geno’s in Portland as DJs Madam H and Scavenger rock some old school ghouley goth tunes for ya starting at 9.
It’s going to get rhymetastic over at The Big Easy in Portland tonight where another installment of Rap Night goes down starting at 9 o’clock this evening.
