Things get emotional during tonight’s Cover to Cover at The Big Easy

By: Holly Nunan

It seems as if Tuesday is trying to give us a little bit of a break and perhaps give us a chance to wash the good times off of our trust Party Pants, but that certainly does not mean there isn’t some cool stuff to check out all around this evening.  Let’s see what shape Tuesday night is in.

Local folk-rock artist Brian Patricks returns to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commerical Street where beginning at 6 pm he’ll be playing a handful of original tunes coupled with classics that you know and love.

One of the most striking solo guitarists of our time makes a stop at SPACE Gallery in Portland this evening. Tonight Kaki King, who has been hailed by Rolling Stone as “a genre unto herself,” plays a show alongside local favorite and recent NYC transplant Lady Lamb the Beekeeper. I have a feeling this one will most likely sell out so get there early as doors open at 8 o’clock.

Empire Dine and Dance in Portland welcomes one and all to their new Tuesday night shindig known as Yacht Blooded: A Live Smooth 70s AM Radio Party that’ll be taking place upstairs for free. Beginning at 8 o’clock you can check out many songs you know all the words to such as covers of Hall and Oates, Ambrosia, Gerry Rafferty and more!

Yesterday was my birthday so I’m declaring this evening’s Cover to Cover at The Big Easy in Portland my official hatch day celebration and I can’t think of a better way to party than with my friends Headstart and Trent Gay paying tribute to an album I listened to incessantly in high school. Tonight the fellas team up to bring Brand New’s emo-tastic record Deja Entendu to life. They’ll get the party started properly with a set of original tunes. Things get crankin’ right around 9 tonight, so come on down and get weird with me!

Another freebie to check out is over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge as DJ Ponyfarm presents another entertainment-filled evening of karaoke.  That’s right, if you’re looking to belt it out and be your own rockstar, you can do just that starting at 9 o’clock tonight and with absolutely no cover charge.

The ferociously awesome Jaw Gems lay it down at Local 188 this evening. These talented cats team up to create everything from funk, soul, and jazz, and are welcoming local emcees to perform with them all this month. It’s a smorgasbord of tasty tunes that are sure to delight your earholes.  Check ‘em out Tuesday starting at 10:30pm.
