Sweet, wonderful Wednesday, I have missed you. I almost said I missed your scent, Wednesday, but then that would’ve taken way too long to explain and things would have gotten super awkward, but for real, Wednesday I have missed your scent, your essence, I missed YOU. This week is really trying to take me on and I just gotta rejoice in the fact that we’re one day closer to the freakin’ weekend. We might as well celebrate this tiny triumph by getting on out there and having some fun. Here’s what Wednesday is whipping up for us all.
Let’s start things off with some smooth jazz, blues and R&B at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland where pianist Terry Foster will accompany singer Lorraine Bohland for an evening of timeless classics. Enjoy a cocktail and some exquisite tunes as they duo kick things off right around 6pm tonight.
Maybe Tuesday kind of took it out of you and you’re looking to chill out with some tunes and a cold beverage. Then Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland is exactly where you want to be tonight as j.hjort presents an evening chock full of loungey, downtempo deep house sounds. There’ll be drink specials and plenty of relaxed people to hang out with as this free event gets underway right around 7 o’clock.
North of Nashville will be rocking over at RiRa on Commercial Street starting right around 8:30 tonight. Jay and Andrew bring their love all of all things country-wang to life this evening with a free show that’s always a ton of fun, filled with originals and covers, so check it out if you’re kicking around the Old Port this evening.
The Clash of the Titans gets ready for some late-90s nostalgia as two influential rock bands from the era duke it out during this week’s battle. Beginning at 9, you can check out the two teams of local musicians as they bring to life the songs of 311 and Incubus starting upstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland right around 9 o’clock tonight.
Of course Wednesday night means it’s poppin’ off over at The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland where another edition of Rap Night will be taking place. Each and every Hump Day local hip-hop heavies Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra host an epic party featuring some of the brightest rappers around. Things get funky and fresh starting around the 9 o’clock hour, so check it out.
