Ah yes, Thursday, my favorite day of the week is finally here. It’s just so wonderful that this evening we all can go out in our Party Pants, consume as many vodka sodas (or whatever beverage your prefer) as we want and yet still be okay with the fact that we have to work tomorrow because tomorrow is Friday. It truly is a glorious thing. We’ve got some serious ground to cover, so let’s check out what this Thursday is throwing down.
If you’re hanging in Westbrook this evening swing by The Frog & Turtle where local acoustic duo Uke n’ Smile will be doing their thing this evening. Starting right around 7 o’clock, the fellas will be playing some acoustic jams to get your Thursday evening started right. It’s a free gig, there’s terrific food, and boozy drinks, so check it out if you’re in the area this evening.
Local singer-songwriter Jason Melanson will be playing an intimate live performance at Blue on Congress Street in Portland this evening. Beginning at 7 you can check out an acoustic set from Jason who’ll be playing some tunes off of his latest album In Shambles.
Right across the street from Blue, over at Local Sprouts Cooperative, Pretty Girls Sing Soprano will be filling the space with beautiful sounds. Since their inception Pretty Girls Sing Soprano have quickly turned heads with their tight, clever and original harmonies. You can check them out starting at 7 o’clock.
Portland’s own twisted rockabilly heroes Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies return to Empire Dine and Dance in Portland for their Thursday night residency with a high-energy show downstairs that gets underway right around 7:30pm.
If you’re looking to laugh out loud, for real, this Thursday evening then head on down to The Asylum in Portland for this week’s edition of Local Laughs hosted by WBLM’s Brett Groh. This is actually going to be the last laugh (ha! ha!) of the season, so check it out starting at 8 as local comedians Mike Bunker, Aaron Hebert, Mark Turcotte, Will Green and Stephanie Doyle get ready to tickle your funny bone. It
Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland gears up for an evening chock full of indie alternative pop rock courtesy of Pineries, Little War Twins, and Greg McKillop and His Full Band. The party starts at 9 o’clock tonight.
Soule Monde teams up with A Band Beyond Description for a night of ultimate jams over at The Big Easy in Portland tonight. Soule Monde is a deep-funk improv outfit made up of Russ Lawton and Ray Paczowsky of the Trey Anastasio Band. So if you’re looking to get your groove on, I’d suggest getting your can down there for 9 tonight.
Local pop-rockers Kilcollins play their regular Thursday night show over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. This Thirstday evening these gents will be rockin’ all the tunes you know and love starting around 9:30.
