Shane Reis celebrates the release of his album with a proper party tonight at The Big Easy

I will admit that I have been dragging some serious tail all week long and therefore I’m thoroughly surprised by the fact that it is already Wednesday. This realization has made me a very happy Nunz because it means I’m one day closer to putting on my weekend Party Pants, and we all know when those things go on we’re one step closer to the danger zone.  Wednesday is offering up some wicked party spots so let’s take a look-see, shall we?

St. Lawrence Arts celebrates the kindness and generosity of Allagash Brewing Company by throwing a Victory Ale Tasting Party, which will feature tons of great food and beer as well as music from the Jason Spooner Band, the Pete Kilpatrick Band and the Emilia Dahlin Quartet. Allagash Brewing Company has donated over $45,000 to St. Lawrence to help them realize their mission of providing a unique and beautiful entertainment space to the community and tonight the venue throws this celebration as a way to say thanks to Allagash for their incredible philanthropy. The party starts right around 5 o’clock this evening, so be sure to check it out if you’re into good beer, good people, and good tunes!

If you’re looking to soak up the last of August’s summer evenings by enjoying a cold one out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company on Commercial Street, tonight is just the night to do so as they welcome Eric Bettencourt and a couple of his talented pals to the stage for some quality songs and stories tonight. Starting at 6, you can check out Betts as he teams up with Seth Kearns and Adam Frederick for some good times overlooking the Atlantic this evening. Tonight’s gig is free, fun and all ages, so swing through and check it out.

More in the way of free, outdoor entertainment is happening in Brunswick this evening with another edition of the Music On The Mall Series. Tonight Sean Mencher and His Rhythm Kings will be performing some rollicking rockabilly tunes for you to dance around and tap your toes to starting right around 6 o’clock.

Head down to El Rayo in Portland where classic Cuban music makers, Primo Cubano, will be playing their weekly gig out on the patio starting right around 7 o’clock. Tonight’s show is guaranteed to be a good time to enjoy some delicious Mexican fare paired with some lively Cuban music, so stop by on your way out and about tonight.

Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland invites one and all to come on in this Wednesday evening for some stellar sounds courtesy of Octane. Octane is a group of individuals brought together by local musician Mike James Hayward to recreate jazz and swing standards through Hayward’s own unique interpretation of the genre. There’s never a cover charge and a ton of tasty drinks to be consumed, so check ‘em out right around 7.

Just down the street at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out the Squid Jiggers who are back once again with some quality folk tuneage to pair perfectly with an ice cold beer. The duo will be getting things going starting right around 8, so swing through and check ‘em out if you’re hanging around downtown tonight.

Wednesday night means it’s time again for some open mic action down to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where you can check out local musicians as they do their thing or you can even sign up to play some tunes of your own. Every Wednesday starting right around 8, local singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier hosts this free and fun event.

It’s time for Ladies Night down at Binga’s Stadium in Portland tonight where local singer-songwriter Jordan Kaulback will be busting out some tunes for you to enjoy this evening. Things get started right around 8 o’clock. Hey ladies, it’s free, so check it out if you’re downtown tonight!

Check out The Hive in Kennebunk’s monthly jazz jam with jazz musician, composer and teacher Chris Humphrey. Humphrey will take to the stage alongside the rest of his trio for an evening of jazz and jams, which all are welcome to participate in. Check it out if you’re in the area this evening as things get underway right around 8.

The Big Easy in Portland is going to be blazin’ tonight as Shane Reis celebrates the release of his album, Reis & Shine with a proper party during this week’s Rap Night. Joining Reis on stage to bring life to his new tunes will be Lucas Kennard, DJ Tommy Blaze and God.Damn.Chan. Anticipate sets from The Yeti, Ryan Augustus, Lady Essence and JMalz to keep things crankin’ throughout the evening. I’ve no doubt tonight’s celebration will be one for the hip-hop history books, so be sure to swing through and check it out as things get poppin’ off right around 9 o’clock.

Rock out with the psychedelic pop-rock of Seacoast act People Skills as they take to the stage of Fury’s Publick House in Dover, New Hampshire tonight. The band will be continuing their Wednesday night residency with another high-energy RnR show that gets underway right around 9 o’clock.
