Ring in the New Year with Rustic Overtones & Soulive at The State Theatre

2014 has been pretty a-okay, but it’s time to say goodbye and make way for a brand new year. I’m pretty certain 2015 has a ton of terrific things in store for us, so let’s celebrate properly this evening by checking out the massive amount of parties that are happening all across the state. Here’s wishing each of you love, light, laughs and tons of good tunes in the New Year!

The Sofa Kings will be rocking GFB Scottish Pub in Old Orchard Beach tonight will their party mix of classic rock tunes. Tonight’s free bash if a great way to ring in the New Year as the music starts up right around 8 o’clock.

The Eswhy Eskay A Farm in Cape Elizabeth presents a free, all-ages New Year’s Eve party featuring some punk, ska, folk and indie rock courtesy of Street City Surf, Trippy Stick, Turny Les and Crater Show. The fun starts at 8pm.

The Ramada in Lewiston will be ringing in 2015 with Pat Colwell and the Soul Sensations. Starting at 8 o’clock, this fun act will be bringing down the house with a masterful mix of Motown and Memphis soul that’s certain to get you working it out on the dance floor this New Year’s Eve.

Lots and lots of great tunes and delicious food will be happening at The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook to help you bring in the New Year properly. Starting at 8, they’ll be serving up a 5 course meal for the admission of $65 per person (21+). Lots of great eats as well as solid soul music courtesy of local act Downeast Soul Coalition.

Bring in 2015 with a bang out at The Landing at Pine Point in Scarborough as local party act The Time Pilots bring a you a night of non-stop dancing. If you’re looking to get down to some great tunes and enjoy some tasty food from The Black Tie Company, be sure to make plans to be a part of this party, which gets underway right around 8 o’clock.

Five-piece classic rock and roll act Five Face North will be partying up at Sea40 in Lewiston this New Year’s Eve. Join them for an evening of good times and good tunes as things get started up right around 8.

Local rock and rollers Rock Revelation will be playing at Season’s Downunder Club in Bangor this New Year’s Eve. The party starts at 8:30 and the $29 ticket includes a champagne toast and midnight buffet.

Say goodbye and good riddance to 2014 and hello to SPACE BALL 2K15, brought to you by the local beat connoisseurs of TRVP NITE and Gold Drop Records. Ring in the new year with some of Portland’s finest DJs such as God.Damn.Chan., Don Damiani, and Che Ros, accompanied by the always mind-bending visuals of the Psychologist. Hors d’oeuvres will be served starting at 8:30pm and formal attire is recommended. So bust out your flyest Party Pants and get down on it at SPACE Gallery on Congress Street in Portland tonight!

The Jason Spooner Band will be performing at Boone’s Fish House & Oyster Room in Portland for the 2nd Annual New Year’s Eve Charity Gala to benefit No Kid Hungry, a wonderful organization focused on ending child hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. During this evening’s event, enjoy a fireside 5-course meal on the first floor or join Jason and crew for a live performance on the second floor that’ll feature small plates, a raw bar, and tons of prizes and giveaways or do both! Music starts at 8:30pm.

Get ready to send 2014 out with a bang with some full throttle rock and roll tunes courtesy of Red Sky Mary. This band of talented dudes will be blowing down doors at Last Call in Old Orchard Beach tonight. Ring in 2015 with some high-energy RnR as things get started right around 8 o’clock tonight.

Ring in the New Year with a big ol’ party at The Asylum in Portland as three local acts will be taking to the stage to make some music that is certain to get you moving out on the dance floor. Starting at 9 check out the inimitable sounds of Sly-Chi who’ll be bringing their unique blend of jazz and funk to life to help you shake a tail feather or two. Alt-country rocker Joe Gallant and his band the Transit will also be doing their thing as well as Portland’s own duo of good ol’ boys North of Nashville who’ll get your toes tapping with their own brand of outlaw country. Tonight’s $15 general admission ticket includes a Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey shot at midnight. A fitting way to usher in the New Year with these tree tremendously talented acts!

Rock and roll right on into 2015 tonight as Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland presents a killer line up of rockin’ acts for your New Year’s Eve. Beginning at 9 o’clock check out rollicking sets from The Wallhangers, Tommy and The Rats, The Gamma Goochies, Jimmy Jacked, and Nuclear Bootz!

Local jazz performer Viva will be bringing her vivacious vocals to Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland for a very special funky New Year’s Eve of funk, jazz standards, soul songs and Latin tunes that are done by Viva and her talented band with a fun and modern twist. This New Year’s Eve Rap Night’s El Shupacabra and Ill by Instinct are bringing you a 1990’s themed dance party in the Asylum basement. El Shupacabra will be on the decks playing rap, pop, dance, R&B and rock classics from the 90s and beyond. Ill by Instinct will be hosting the show, rocking the mic on some house party goodness, and helping to count down to the new year. I have a feeling things are going to get pretty awesome over at Port City Music Hall in Portland this New Year’s Eve as 3 local bands take to the stage to make some noise and properly ring in 2015. Starting at 9 check out sets of original songs from local pop-rock veteran Spencer Albee alongside holler folk local legends The Ghost of Paul Revere and a special reunion performance from roots rockers Dark Hollow Bottling Company. It’d probably be super smaaht to purchase your tickets ahead of time as I’ve got a feeling that this year-end party will most certainly sell out. …and I was right, the show tonight at Port City Music Hall is officially SOLD OUT. 

It’s gonna be a crazy end to 2014 at Easy Street Lounge in Hallowell tonight as Boogie Mob busts out some of the best soul, funk, R&B, reggae, and disco around. Things get underway around 9 with a champagne toast at midnight!

Local duo Tombstone PD will be holding it down at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street this New Year’s Eve with their mix of old and new rock, cover tunes, and original jams. Tonight’s free show gets started at 7pm.

A random, but totally awesome match-up will be happening upstairs at Empire in Portland for a very special New Year’s Eve Clash of the Titans that pits the tunes of 90s R&B against the swinging 70s sounds of disco. Things get shaking right around 9:30 with a line-up of talented Maine musicians such as Sean Slaughter, Michael Solak,Tyler Johnson, Scott Webber, Stefen Samuels, Kelly Muse, Kristina Kentigian, Chas Lester, Renee Coolbrith,Kristina Wilson, Evan Haines and Ian Riley.

If you’re up in Bangor tonight head over to Sea Dog Brewing Company where local prog-rock act The 220s will be ushering in the new year with some awesome songs for you to shake your can to. The 220s draw their influences from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Rush and tons more to create a sound that is truly all their own and certainly pleasing to any discerning ear hole. Check ‘em out starting at 9:30 tonight.
