All right so there’s no denying that it has been a wet and wild couple of days. Sandy has definitely garnered our attention, but I’ll be darned if she ruins one of the most mischievous nights of the year. If you didn’t get your full dose of seasonal mayhem in this weekend, then ready yourself for round two as Halloween takes on this Hump Day with a monstrous fury. Here are all the party spots for you ghosts, ghouls and goblins!
Tonight the appropriately named Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies join forces with Portland’s gotherific vaudevillians, Dark Follies, to create a show the likes of which have never been seen before, just in time for Halloween. Dark Follies bring their dancers, jugglers, sideshow acts and more to the stage alongside Pete & The Zombies’ rockabilly/psychobilly tunes that combine witty lyrics and theatrical delivery for a night full of devilish fun. The Carnival of Death begins right around 8 o’clock this evening at Portland’s Bayside Bowl.
They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and uke-y…it’s the Nogar Family Band at Dogfish Bar and Grille in Portland. Tonight the Nogar Family Band, which is a four-piece acoustic band based right out of Portland featuring the infectiously catchy tunes crafted by bandleader Dan Nogar, will be playing an original set of tunes with a couple of creepy covers thrown in for good measure. Things get started right around 8:30.
It’s a given that Halloween at Geno’s Rock Club in Portland is always utter mayhem and this year will be no different as Detroit’s finest punk rock band The HandMe Downs return to the stage tonight alongside a slew of local acts for this evening’s Teen Scream Massacre. Joining in the madness this evening will be local hip-hop acts the Dirty White Hats and Cam Groves. Local comedic mastermind Connor McGrath will also be taking the stage to leave you in stitches between acts. There’ll obviously be a Halloween costume contest and drink specials, so dress to impress (or disgust) this evening and make your way to Geno’s right around 9 o’clock.
A special Halloween edition of the Clash of the Titans takes over Empire Dine and Dance this evening as two classic albums go head to head upstairs. Tonight Prince’s Purple Rain battles Michael Jackson’s Thriller for the Clash crown this evening. Festivities begin around 9 tonight, so check it out.
Local hip-hop-ists Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra are finally back from their tour with Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and tonight they crank out another epic edition of Rap Night with a celebration of rap legend Brzowski’s latest endeavor Blooddrive Vol. 3. This record is a packed compilation album including new songs, rare tracks, collaborations, demos, and more from Brzo, who’ll be joined by eyenine as well as Shupe and Ill By Instinct, for a night of lyrical madness over at The Big Easy. Things kick into high gear beginning at 9.
If you’re looking to go underground this All Hallows Eve then make your way down to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge in Portland where j.hjort, Jason Keith, and 32French will be spinning the best underground house and techno around. Get dressed in some ghoulish duds and dance your demons away starting at 9.
A fixture of the Portland mixologist scene, Nan’l Meiklejohn, is lot more than a pretty face behind the bar, he’s also an accomplished DJ who knows how to get a crowd shakin’ their rump. Tonight he celebrates Halloween over at Flask Lounge in Portland with a Freak Show Dance Party where he’ll be dressed as The Bearded Lady spinning the most danceable tunes around. Tonight’s event is free and will feature hand picked (and shaken) drink selections from Meiklejohn himself so check it out starting at 9 o’clock.
