Pizza & Bluegrass with Joe Walsh & friends at Otto tonight

I don’t think I’m entirely ready for another Monday, but regardless of my preparedness or not, here it is. Thankfully there are some cool things to take in to help you manage any doldrums associated with the start of another working week. Here are the happenings for tonight!

Monday night means it’s time again for local folk artist Max Garcia Conover to fill Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland with some delightful acoustic music. Starting at 6 o’clock Max and some of his friends will be providing the soundtrack to your early Monday evening as you kick back and enjoy some good tunes, good food and a discounted wine list.

If you’re spending your evening near the Lewiston area, you can drop on by Pedro O’Hara’s where pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky will be hosting another installment of his weekly acoustic mic night. Tonight’s free and fun event gets underway right around 6, so grab an instrument and get ready to make some music this Monday.

Jazz Night continues at MJ’s Wine Bar located at One City Center in Portland tonight as the venue welcomes a trio of local musicians to perform this evening. This house band is open to having other musicians sit in and play some tunes with them, so keep that in mind if you’re into jazzing things up a bit with some talented folks. Things get started right around 7 o’clock and there’s never a cover charge.

If you’re in southern Maine this Monday be sure to check out tonight’s open mic that takes place at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco. Beginning at 7:30, solo musicians and full bands are encouraged to take the stage where there’s a full set up of amps and drums to be played. Tonight’s shindig is free, fun and great way to show off your musical prowess, so check it out if you’re in the area this evening.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s absolutely no need to get super bummed that it’s Monday, instead buck up and check out some bluegrass and eat some pizza down at Otto on Congress Street. Tonight local picker Joe Walsh and friends will be providing a mighty fine soundtrack to your evening starting right around 8 o’clock.

Down at RiRa on Commercial in Portland, Evan Walsh will be hosting yet another edition of what he calls ‘an adult talent show’ a.k.a. open mic that starts right around 8 o’clock. EvGuy has instruments available for you to play around on, and if you can’t actually play anything, then he’ll help you out by jamming a version of a song for you to sing along to! Grab some pals, down some liquid courage (booze), and check it out.

Each and every Monday night through the middle of April you can warm up and chill out with local act Royal Hammer as they throw down some raging reggae at Local 188 on Congress Street in Portland. These guys know how to have a stellar time by making some stellar sounds, so be sure to swing through and check out this free show as the party starts at 10 o’clock.
