Mama’s Boomshack brings the funk to The Big Easy tonight

By: Holly Nunan

I know that it may seem a little bit early to already be counting down the days to Friday, but we are, in fact, one day closer to the freakin’ weekend! This makes me happy. It makes me even happier that there are a bunch of cool things to take in this Tuesday evening, so check it out!

Empire Dine and Dance in Portland gets super smooth this Tuesday evening as Yacht Blooded: A Live Smooth 70s AM Radio Party returns to the stage. Starting right around 8 you can check out some covers of Hall and Oates, Ambrosia, Gerry Rafferty, Michael McDonald and much more. It happens every Tuesday night downstairs at The Empire. It’s super free and super fun, so swing on by and check it out tonight.

Another freebie to check out tonight takes place over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge as DJ Ponyfarm presents another fun-filled evening of karaoke. Stop by Slainte and belt out some of your favorite pp tunes starting at 9 o’clock.

Cover to Cover keeps the party rolling this Tuesday night over at The Big Easy in Portland as local funk and soul act Mama’s Boomshack takes to the stage to put a glide in yo’ stride and a dip in yo’ hip as they take on Parliament’s classic album Mothership in its entirety. Things get funky starting at 9 with an opening set of original tunes from Mama’s Boomshack followed by Parliament’s classic funk album from front to back. Come on down and bust a move!

Over at Flask Lounge in Portland another edition of Drop It: Open Decks will be taking place. Starting at 9 o’clock you can sign for a slot DJing on some open tables. All you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones! Tonight DJ Matty T of ATOMIK will provide an opening set of tunes to get things going. The event is absolutely free-of-charge and always a good time, so go on and check it out.
