Nigel Hall returns to rage at The Big Easy in Portland tonight

I hope you are fully prepared for what this Friday has to offer. Tonight is the official kick-off to yet another party weekend and there is a crap-ton (actual scientific unit of measurement) of stuff to be seen and heard this evening.  So take a power nap if you must, eat some grub, do some stretches, and get ready to Friday like you’ve never Fridayed before.

Start things off tonight by treating your earholes to the sounds of three talented and lovely sirens down at Blue on Congress Street in Portland. Starting at 6, be sure to scoot in and grab a seat as Sarah Blacker, Sara Hallie Richardson, and Anna Lombard take to the stage to fill the venue with soaring, soulful vocals. This show is entirely free, so do yourself a favor and check these brilliant broads out.

Who doesn’t love furry, cute things? If you love dogs, cats, seals, bunnies, and many more furry (and non-furry) friends that reside within the cute spectrum then be a pal and check out tonight’s benefit concert upstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland to help out Buddy Up as well as Marine Mammals of Maine. Starting at 7 o’clock there will be a cocktail reception, silent auction and raffle, as well as live musical performances from Amy Allen, Andy Happel, Dawn Mitschele and Anna & The Diggs all to help out these great causes.

Local folk-rocker Brian Patricks will be providing the soundtrack to your Friday evening as he plays a plethora of originals and covers during a free set down at the Season’s Bar & Grille on Riverside Street in Portland. Beginning at 7 o’clock you can check out some tunes courtesy of Mr. Patricks.

I plan on starting my Fridaying over at The State Theatre in Portland for a show that I have been pumped about since its announcement this winter. Tonight one of my all time favorite punk band’s, Bad Religion, will be laying it down alongside special guests The Bronx and Polar Bear Club. I’ll be the crazy girl screaming her head off like she’s hardcore or somethin’ starting right around 8 o’clock.

The immensely talented Nigel Hall returns to Maine from the Big Easy (I’m talking Louisiana, y’all) with a show at, where else? The Big Easy! Tonight Nige rages out with his band for a night of funk and soul that gets underway right around 8. You won’t want to miss this party, so get there early and stay there late.

If you’re south of Portland tonight the Tricky Britches will be throwing down some old timey, roots and bluegrass tunes alongside the appropriately named, The Whiskey Boys at The Oak & The Ax in Biddeford. This pair of fun acts gets the show rollin’ right around 8.

Bayside Bowl in Portland invites you in for a night of rocking and bowling as three different rock acts take to the stage for a night of ferocious Friday night tuneage. Starting at 9, be sure to check out Aloud, When Particles Collide and GinLab as they do their thing all night long.

A night of booty shaking takes over Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland as Break It, a free dance party featuring an all breaks line up courtesy of JSB, Hinote, and Mechanism gets underway right around 9pm.

If you’re winding down after a day on The Loaf, why not rock out your Friday at The Rack? Tonight the Steve Jones Trio will be shaking things up starting at 9. With influences ranging from The Stones, Dylan, The Beatles and Hendrix, you can bet that whatever they’re laying down it’ll definitely be something you wanna pick up, so check it out and enjoy some good vibrations.

Some super duper country tunes will be twanging away tonight at the Easy Street Lounge in Waterville as The Cowboy Angels saddle up to play you the best classic country covers all night long. Crooning, toe tapping, and twang starts at 9:30.

If you’re down in the Dover, NH area, be sure to check out some tunes at Fury’s Publick House where two great acts will be joining forces for a night of pyschedelic folk. Starting at 9:30, check out new tunes from B.A. Canning Band with special guests Old Soul.
