Micromasse performs live in the lounge at Frontier in Brunswick tonight

We’re half way to the freakin’ weekend and this Wednesday is guaranteed to help you get the good times rolling, so hike up your Midweek Party Pants and get it to it this evening!

Local singer-songwriter, guitarist and all around nice guy, Dave Jacquet is back to resume his role as open mic host with the most during tonight’s free event up at Cole Farms in Gray. Starting at 7:30 Dave welcomes any and all musicians to join in on the creative fun as he and a few pals take the stage to share both songs and stories throughout the evening.

If you’re looking to wind down with some down-home, acoustic roots tunes this Wednesday evening, make some plans to head down to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street as local act David Beam and The Custom House Gang will be serving up some good times and good tunes during tonight’s free, all-ages event starting right around 8pm.

Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port welcomes back the Squid Jiggers for some finely crafted folk tunes that are guaranteed to drum up some good times. Join the duo as they get tonight’s free show started at 8 o’clock.

Tonight you can catch local rockabilly extraordinaire Pete Witham over at The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook as he hosts another free open mic. Starting at 8 you can sign up to play some songs or just kick back and relax as Pete and his pals Par Hanson, Scott Morrion and Kate Campbell Strauss perform throughout the evening.

Local organ-based trio Micromasse will be playing live in the lounge at  Frontier in Brunswick as part of the venue’s free Wednesday night music series. Check out the melodic and mesmerizing sounds of Chris Sweet, Max Cantlin and Pete Dugas as the three combine guitar, drums and organ to pump out some superior instrumental jams starting at 8.

Things are going to get loud and even slightly weird at Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland as they welcome a plethora of skull crushing death metal, hardcore and some other electronic ambient sounds to the stage tonight. The one-woman, electronic-based, industrial death metal act known as Pharmakon will be joined by Standing Stones, which features members of Taboo, as well as Boston hardcore punk act, Sadist, ambient deathers, Scrotal Tear, and local sludge act Mugwort. Things get turned up right around 9pm.

Rap Night at The Asylum in Portland will be popping off with some local hip-hop as hosts ill by instinct and El Shupacabra bring you one helluva midweek party. Each and every Wednesday you can check out this epic rap ruckus that features some of the best and brightest emcees, producers and DJs around. Things get started at 9 with early and late night open mic cyphers, and as always, ladies get in free, so stop through and check it out!
