Mayer Hawthorne returns to Port City Music Hall this Monday

By: Holly Nunan

Bring it, Monday! I’ve got nothing but good vibes throw up against you and your mundane ways, so give it your best shot because I’m ready to do it to it tonight! There are a bunch of awesome things to check out tonight, so show Monday what’s the what by breaking it down proper this evening. Here we go!

The Grumps’ bassist, Mike Krapovicky will be hosting another free open mic night at Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston tonight. Grab your ax and get ready to bust ‘em out starting right around 6:30 if you’re in the area this Monday.

Sometimes I find that eating my feelings helps me banish any Monday-related blues, if you’re prone to the same super healthy habits as myself, why not pair your pig out with some free music? Grab some friends and grab some slices down at Otto on Congress Street where local bluegrass artist, Joe Walsh and a posse of his talented pals will be providing a mighty fine soundtrack for Monday night mow down starting right around 8 o’clock.

Mayer Hawthorne returns to Portland tonight with another helluva show over at Port City Music Hall on Congress Street. Hawthorne performed on the same stage a couple years ago and treated the audience to a show chock full of retro-pop and R&B dance jams. I’d anticipate much of the same this evening. L.A. pop act, Superhumanoids will get things started with an opening set right around 8 o’clock.

If you’re looking to check out something super fun and smacking of a certain sort of free-ness then head out the open mic night that’ll be happening down at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Every Monday starting right around 8 Evan Walsh hosts his own version of an adult talent show in the form of a free open mic night. EvGuy even has instruments available for people to play, and even if you can’t actually play said instruments, he’ll help you out by jamming out a decent version of a song for you to sing!

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland is gearing up for a Monday night full of rock and alternative covers as well as original songs from local act Zealous Bellus. The fellas are ready to kick things into a full tilt rage for this free show starting right around 9.

There’s some more non-stop dance party action for ya down at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where DJ Spencer will be pumping out all of the greatest tunes from the 90s. Tonight’s party is absolutely free and gets underway right around 10 o’clock, so stop by and bust a move or a two to some tunes you forgot existed.
