All right, Monday, I know that no matter what I do over the course of a weekend you are always going to return. Well, I am certainly not going to dwell on the fact that I absolutely hate your guts and instead I’m going to move forward by showing you that despite your wretchedness I can and will still have fun this evening. I hope you ladies and gents will follow suit and show this Monday who’s the boss. Here is what’s the what all around town this Monday evening.
If you’re feeling the financial strain leftover from the freakin’ weekend then be sure to check out the free open mic that will be taking place over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland this Monday evening where Evan Walsh aka EvGuy hosts his own version of an adult talent show starting right around 8. He’s got instruments on hand and if you can’t actually play, he’ll help you bang out a manageable version of a song for you to sing along to. So grab some friends and get ready to belt ‘em out this evening!
Mondays really aren’t all that bad especially when they mean free bluegrass with a heaping side of twang downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland. Tonight North of Nashville continue their residency where starting right around 8 they’ll play you catchy original jams paired with toe-tapping tunes that everyone knows and loves! It’s free, fun and certain to blow any of those Monday blues far, far away so stop on by and check it out.
Every Monday this month rock act Lord Earth will be playing some tunes over at the Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland with a different local opener each week. Music starts at 8 with no cover, cheap drink specials and fine entertainment. Tonight local rock n’ roll duo Ace Galloper will start things off with a set of songs, so stop by and check it out.
If you wanna get funky and jam out with some of the scene’s best players then make your way down to The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland for another installment of The Players Ball. The Players Ball features a house band of some super talented cats such as Adam Frederick, Max Cantlin, Dan Boyden, Chas Lester and more, who come each and every Monday night to play tunes not only together, but with audience members who bring along their instruments to jam out on stage. It’s an event for musicians and music lovers alike, so check it out starting right around 9pm.
And north of Portland this evening, Sam Shain & The Scolded Dogs gear up to celebrate the release of their new album A Song We Know with a party over at Slates in Hallowell. These guys are ready to funk it up starting right around 8 o’clock, so if you’re in the area, check ‘em out!
