Local poet and musician Dave Morrison will be performing in Congress Square Park in Portland this evening as part of The Friends of Congress Square Park and SPACE Gallery free music series. Join Dave in the Square around 6 o’clock for Poetry Rocks, which merges his life on the stage with his life on the page, as he combines his poetry with guitar for a truly unique experience of music and prose during this free, all ages event.
There’s definitely still some summer weather to enjoy here in Maine so celebrate the end of summer over at the Portland Lobster Company on Commercial Street tonight where you can enjoy some fantastic live music out on the deck with the Delta Knights as they serve up some R&B, blues, soul, funk, swing, rock, jazz and more. The fellas will be doing their thing at this free, all ages show starting right around 6 this Tuesday evening.
Just up the street from PLC, you can check out local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale as she fills Andy’s Old Port Pub with some satisfying sounds during tonight’s free, all ages acoustic performance. Things get underway at 7 this evening.
Your only chance to see Portland’s own power pop powerhouse, Kurt Baker perform live before he heads back to Spain is tonight at Bull Moose in Portland. Help KB and his bandmates celebrate the release of their new record, Brand New B-Sides with a special acoustic performance downtown this Tuesday. There’ll be copies of the new album available as well as free beer koozies — I mean, who doesn’t like keep their beverages ice cold with a cool rock n’ roll koozie? This is Kurt’s only Maine performance of 2014, so be sure to stop on by and give him a high five at this free, all ages show.
Local singer-songwriter Brian Patricks will be joining forces with bassist Damon Holman to bring their acoustic rock and blues duo, Cayden’s Call, to life up at Fast Breaks in Lewiston this Tuesday. Check these fellas out as they get the good times rolling starting at 7 o’clock.
English blues singer, guitarist, organist and songwriter, John Mayall will be performing live at Jonathan’s in Ogunquit this Tuesday. Mayall’s career spans over 50 years and includes the foundation of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, a band which has included some of the most famous blues and blues-rock musicians of all time such as Eric Clapton, Kal David Peter Green, Jack Bruce, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, and more. Tonight’s show gets underway at 8pm.
Local bluegrass artist Jon Cooper and a few of his friends will join musical forces once again tonight to bring their unique brand of Americana music to at Otto’s lower Congress Street location. Check out Chicken Wire as the act livens up your Tuesday with some free, quality tunes beginning at 8 o’clock.
Check out another evening of music with Choro Louco, Portland’s only Brazilian choro ensemble, as the act performs live at Blue on Congress Street in Portland. The band features Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric Winter, and Kris Day. Things get underway right around 8:30.
The New Mastersounds, a four-piece, vintage soul/jazz/funk/rock act based in Leeds, England, will be lighting up the stage of Port City Music Hall in Portland this Tuesday. This energetic band draws their influences from from Jimmies McGriff, Smith, and Hendrix, as well as their most closely-associated mentors, The Meters. The party starts at 8 o’clock with the help of NYC 4-piece dirty funk act, Tauk.
Flask Lounge in Portland presents another open mic night specifically designed for DJs. Tonight’s event allows up-and-coming record spinners and producers to take a chance up on the decks alongside veteran DJs. All you need to bring to participate are some records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome as things get cranking at 9 o’clock.
Bull Feeney’s acoustic open mic night with local folk-pop artist, Jacob McCurdy continues tonight down in the Old Port. Join in on the fun as Jacob invites any and all musicians onto the stage to show off their musical prowess starting at 9 o’clock.
