Weee! We’ve already made it to Wednesday and it’s almost the long holiday weekend! Bust out some patriotic jorts and maybe even treat yourself to a Red, White & True (Budweiser) as we hurdle the hump into the freakin’ weekend!

Local singer-songwriter and soulful siren Andi Fawcett goes solo and acoustic tonight for a free show over at South Portland’s newest bar, lounge, and 10-lane bowling alley, Easy Day. Starting at 6 tonight swing through and enjoy some solid sounds from Andi and maybe even bowl a few strings.

Two of the best classic rock acts to ever take the stage team up for a night of fun at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor tonight. Legendary bands BOSTON and Cheap Trick will be rockin’ it out live on the main stage starting at 6. I’ve had the opportunity to check out Cheap Trick a couple of times in the last few years and they put on one helluva show; even more exciting is that BOSTON will feature Jeff Neal, a teacher from Windham, Maine, on drums! It should be great time filled with great tunes out on the waterfront, so check it out if you’re up that way this evening.

Take in some good times tunes out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company this Wednesday evening as Vinyl Tap rocks it out beginning at 6 with covers of everything from Huey Lewis, Elton John, The Beatles, Charlie Daniels and a ton more. If you’re looking for a non-stop dance party on a deck overlooking the ocean, then look no further than PLC this evening.

Enjoy some farm fresh eats and entertaining musical beats at Gather in Yarmouth this Wednesday as local artist Isaiah Bennett teams up with singer Fran Martelle for a dinnertime set starting at 6. Anticipate lots of acoustic soul, pop and folk goodness from this duo at tonight’s free show.

Local guitar virtuoso Carlos Calvo will be joining actor, director, and producer Rob Morrow, who is best known for his role as Dr. Joel Fleischman in the award-winning television show Northern Exposure, for an evening of music up at the Newagen Seaside Inn in Southport. Tonight’s event gets underway at 7pm.

Get down to El Rayo in Portland where classic Cuban music makers, Primo Cubano, will be playing their weekly Wednesday gig out on the patio starting at 7. Tonight’s show is guaranteed to be a good time to enjoy some delicious Mexican fare paired with some lively Cuban music, so stop by on your way out and about tonight.

South of Portland tonight, take in a terrific live show outside at Prescott Park in Portsmouth where country rocker Justin Townes Earle will be performing beginning at 7. Justin certainly comes from good musical stock as his father is the legendary singer-songwriter Steve Earle, but the fella knows how to make a name for himself through his own unique musical stylings.

St. Lawrence Arts Center in Portland welcomes one and all in for a co-billed performance featuring the musical talents of local artists Chris Ross and Will Mallett. Tonight’s show starts at 7 o’clock and will feature sets of songs and stories from both Will Mallett, one of the primary songwriters for Maine-based alt-country act The Mallett Brothers Band, and Chris Ross, who’s finely-crafted songs feature elements of Americana, folk and country.

If you’re looking for to tap your toes to some some down home acoustic roots tunes this Wednesday look no further than Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in downtown Portland where local act David Beam and The Custom House Gang will be playing a free show starting at 8.

Local chanteuse Renee Coolbrith and talented piano man Kyle Friday come together for a special live performance in the lounge on MJ’s Wine Bar in Portland this evening. This dynamic duo will be teaming up for a free show that gets underway right around 8 o’clock this Wednesday.

The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook welcomes back Ron Gill of blues act Poke Chop and The Other White Meats for another free blues-based open mic night. The party starts right around 8, so stop in and check things out if you’re in the area this Wednesday evening.

Down at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port the Squid Jiggers return to the stage with their own brand of folk music that’s basically some good ol’ fashioned drinking music! Check things out if you’re in the area this Wednesday evening as tonight’s free show gets started around 8 o’clock.

Rap Night at The Asylum in Portland will be doing tons of good tonight as they host a benefit show for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine featuring a plethora of some of the most talented emcees around. All the money raised at the door this Wednesday will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club to help them continue their efforts of doing awesome work for the youth in our local communities. Tonight’s show will feature showcases from ill by instinct, Lady Essence, Rapper Ashley, Mannie U and DJ KTF. There’ll be early and late night open mic cyphers hosted by Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra, so get there early, stay there late, and do some good starting at 9 o’clock tonight.

The Clash of the Titans will be rocking your Wednesday as two awesome alt-rock acts go head-to-head and song for song at this week’s battle upstairs at Empire in Portland. Starting at 9:30 see if the sexy Brits of Arctic Monkeys can overthrow the raw RnR power of the Foo Fighters for this week’s installment of the battle of the cover bands.

Check out a free show down at Champions in Biddeford tonight as roots rocker Travis James Humphrey plays a solo set of tunes starting right around 10pm.
