All right, here we are at the beginning of yet another week, thankfully there’s plenty to check out this evening if you feel yourself slipping into a Case of the Mondays. Take your pick and get on out there tonight and celebrate the fact that you will indeed make it to Tuesday. We’ve got this; here we go!
Every Monday this month rock act Lord Earth will be laying down tasty jams over at the Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland with a different local opener each week. Music starts at 8 with no cover, cheap drink specials and fine entertainment. Tonight The Coalsack in Crux will start things off with a special acoustic set, so stop by and check it out.
Mondays aren’t all that bad especially when they mean free bluegrass with a healthy dose of twang downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland. Tonight Jay and Andrew of North of Nashville continue their weekly residency where starting up at 8 o’clock they’ll play you rollicking original jams paired with toe-tapping tunes that everyone knows and loves! It’s free, fun and certain to blow any Monday blues away so check it out.
More in the way of free events to check out this Monday takes place over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland where Evan Walsh aka EvGuy hosts yet another open mic. Every Monday EvGuy hosts his own version of an adult talent show starting right around 8. He’s got instruments on hand and if you can’t actually play, he’ll help you bang out a manageable version of a song for you to sing along to. So grab some friends, down some liquid courage (aka boozey booze), and get ready to belt ‘em out this evening!
If you’re looking to get funky and jam out with some of the local scene’s brightest players then make your way down to The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland for another installment of The Players Ball. The Players Ball features a house band of some super talented cats such as Adam Frederick, Max Cantlin, Dan Boyden, Chas Lester and more, who come each and every Monday night to play tunes not only together, but with audience members who bring along their instruments to jam out on stage. It’s an event for musicians and music lovers alike, so check it out starting right around 9pm.
One of my favorite alternative pop-rockers, Hutch Heelan, celebrates the release of newest record Inner Space Odyssey with a party at The Red Door in Portsmouth this evening. Join Hutch as he plays songs off of his new album with the accompaniment of Jake Roche on guitar. Special guests Cantilever will get things started right around 8 o’clock tonight.
