I’m finding that as my youth slowly slips away I have a much more difficult time recovering from rocking out than I used to. Regrouping and mending seem to take a lot longer than I remember and so instead of seeing all the awesome gigs that were happening last night I instead fell asleep at approximately 8:15pm. Talk about super lame, but anyway, tonight’s a new adventure to get things right, diligently hike up my Party Pants, and check out what’s in store for this evening. Of course this means that it’ll take me until late Friday evening to get out there and do it again, but c’est la vie. Let’s Thursday!
Why not start things off this evening with some funk, soul, and smooth R&B jams to ease you on into the freakin’ weekend? If this sounds like your kind of party then make your way over to The Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook where Adam and The Waxmen will be delivering smooth sounds to your earholes starting at 7pm. There’s tasty drinks and no cover, so check it out if you’re in The ‘Brook this Thursday evening.
Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies brings the party downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland this evening. Each and every thirsty Thursday these fellas play the very best rockabilly and honky-tonk songs you could ever shake your buns to, so if you’re kicking about this evening check out their high energy show, which gets underway, free-of-charge, right around 7:30 tonight.
Brooklyn trio, Tumbling Bones shakes, rattles and rolls Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland this evening with their own unique Americana tunes, which can also be described as having a bit of rock n’ roll infused into them. Check these fellas out starting at 8 o’clock.
I’m a sucker for classic country and tonight the lovely Shanna Underwood will be serving up healthy doses of just that with the help of Kirk Underwood on guitar and Adam Barber on bass as the trio plays a set of songs beginning at 8 o’clock down at The Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland.
Perhaps you need a little hip to the hop to put a little pop into your Thursday, then you might as well head up to Iron Trails Saloon in Acton for a night of rhymes and rhythm courtesy of Click North, John Blaze, Highgrade, Element, and Loc Dab. Things get jumping right around 8 o’clock this thirsty Thursday.
The fellas of North of Nashville head up to Naples this evening for gig over at Bray’s Brew Pub. Starting at 8 o’clock the duo will be providing catchy originals as well as toe-tapping covers of all of the best country twang your little heart could desire. It’s a free show so be sure to check it out if you’re up that way this evening.
Geno’s Rock Club on Congress Street in Portland really lives up to its name this Thursday evening with a night chock full of rock and/or roll for your earholes. Starting at 9 you can anticipate to have your hair blown back by Mad Gingers, Doll Fight, Jonee Earthquake Band, and The Skummymen. For only $5 at the door, that sure is a lot of bang for your buck, so check it out.
Of course Thursday night in Portland means that the fellas of Vinyl Tap are bringing the thunder to Gritty’s in the Old Port. Vinyl Tap is known for making people bust a move to their awesome and exceedingly danceable cover tunes that vary from Huey Lewis to Cee Lo Green, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, The Dead and everything in between. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer, so check it out starting at 9:30.
If you wanna mellow your mind then head on over to The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland for another fun night with Band Beyond Description. These guys are a lot more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band. These talented dudes are known to jam out on everything from the Allman Brothers, Phish, The Band and more. Anticipate good times, good people, and maybe even a few hula-hoops starting right around 9:30 tonight.
Pop-rockers Kilcollins settle in for their regular thirsty Thursday night gig over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Starting right around 9:30, these fellas will be rockin’ and rollin’ to all the classic cover tunes you know and love, so check ‘em out.
Sonny’s in the Old Port switches it up this Thursday with some soulful tunes courtesy of anna & the diggs. Beginning at 10 o’clock you can check out this all original soul/rock band as they tear things up straight up until closing time. Good times, good tunes, good people and plenty of good drinks – how could you go wrong?
