Get funky at tonight’s Players Ball over at The Big Easy in Portland!

By: Holly Nunan

Well then, that was quite the weekend! Starting on Friday night watching The Fogcutters and friends completely own the stage at The State Theatre with this year’s edition of Big Band Syndome to trying to bounce around town on Saturday night to take in all the sights and sounds; I’d say overall it was a complete success! Althought this Monday is a little mellow it does not mean that you should hang up your Party Pants, instead throw ‘em on, hike ‘em up and get ready to make some moves this Monday night.

Monday nights mean free bluegrass with a healthy dose of country twang downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland where Jay and Andrew of North of Nashville continue their weekly residency. Starting up at 8 o’clock check out the fellas as they play you rollicking original jams paired with toe-tapping tunes that everyone knows and loves!

More in the way of free stuff to check out tonight as Evan Walsh aka EvGuy hosts yet another open mic night over at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Every Monday Evan hosts his own version of an adult talent show starting right around 8 o’clock. He’s got instruments on hand and if you can’t play, he’ll be more than happy to bang out a manageable version of a song for you to sing along to. So grab some friends, down some liquid courage (aka boozey booze), and get ready to belt ‘em out this evening!

If you’re looking to get funky this evening and jam out with some of the local scenes best players then make your way down to The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland for another installment of The Players Ball. The Players Ball features a house band of some super talented cats such as Adam Frederick, Max Cantlin, Dan Boyden, Chas Lester and more, who come each and every Monday night to play tunes not only together, but with audience members who bring along their instruments to jam out on stage. It’s event for musicians and music lovers alike, so check it out starting right around 9pm.
