From Rustic Overtones in Dover, NH to The Mallett Brothers Band in Rangeley, there are tons of ways (and places) to ring in 2013 tonight

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed 2012 and am a little sad to see it go, but I know that 2013 must have a bunch of epically awesome stuff in store for us, so bring it on ’13! Here’s wishing you each light, love, laughter, and tons of good tunes in the New Year! There are pleny of way to ring this one in, so plan ahead, be smart, and most importantly have fun! Here’s what’s happening all around our musically inclined state this last evening of 2012.

The Awesome are looking to throw it back to the 80s all night long with a Caddyshack themed New Year’s Eve party at Bayside Bowl in Portland tonight. Starting at 8, bust out your best Lacoste shirts and your best version of the ‘Gopher Shake’ for night full of dancing. The Awesome will rock you into 2013 with Bayside’s famous Bowling Ball Drop at midnight.

The Asylum in Portland invites everyone to come party, drink, laugh, sing, and ring in 2013 with an epic party featuring performances from the Dirty White Hats and Cam Groves, as well as karaoke with DJ Johnny Red, and 80s tunes being spun downstairs all night long from Rob of WCYY. With a little something for everyone, tonight’s event should be a stellar way to bring in the New Year with style. Things get started right around 8pm.

The Clash of the Titans gets into the NYE action with a very special Clash of the Decades upstairs at Empire Dine and Dance on Congress Street in Portland. Tonight the 80s, 90s, and 00s battle it out with four rounds of 3 tunes each from each decade. Featuring tons of local talent, tonight’s show should be one heck of a way to ring in the New Year. Party starts right around 8 o’clock.

I have a feeling that energy in The Big Easy in Portland tonight is going to be electric, fun, and full of joy as Brian Graham (co-leader of the one and only Fogcutters Big Band) celebrates 10 years of being cancer free with a New Year’s Eve Ball featuring sets from Sly-Chi and Model Airplane. Tonight’s terrific show begins at 8 o’clock and a portion of all of the proceeds will go to benefit The SamFund, which is a nonprofit organization designed to help young adult cancer survivors deal with the financial strain of treatment. Congratulations to Brian and be sure to check out this show if you’re hanging around the Old Port tonight!

SPACE Gallery on Congress Street in Portland teams up with Mexican wrestling league Super Lucha Explosiva to do NYE luchadores-style. Tonight’s event gets underway right around 8pm and will feature high-flying matches between Tecnicos (the good guys) and Rudos (the bad guys). With all sorts of little surprises, curious cocktails and killer DJ sets from Nan’l Meiklejohn and Gabe FM, tonight’s bash should be one for the books, so check it out!

A super-charged dance party takes over Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland for this year’s New Year’s Eve party. Starting at 8, you can dance the night away with tunes provided by DJ Dark City. There’ll also be a champagne toast and tons of treats, so be sure to stop by and check it out.

And more in the way of dynamite dance parties tonight with a special NYE party over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland. Starting at 9 and with absolutely no cover, you can check out Hi Tiger with DJ sets, live music, performances and video from Che Ros, Jacob Pitcher, Ryan Tapia, Marcus Caine, 32French, Fruit Punch Productions, Amanda Clark, Aquarius Funkk, Brenty Ney and The 90 Minute Blonde. That’s a lot of free entertainment to bring in 2013, so be sure to swing by and check it out.

As another year draws to a close you might find yourself feeling a little bit nostalgic, no worries there as local 90s cover band, Hello Newman, has got you covered. Tonight the fellas will be playing a free show at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port starting at 9:30 to satiate your all of your 90s throwback needs.

Right down the street a tick, over at Brian Boru in Portland, Captain Ray and the Castaways are geared up to ring in the New Year with tunes that’ll be certain to keep you moving all night long. Beginning at 9:30, Captain Ray will be serving up healthy doses of rock and/or roll for your NYE extravaganza, so be sure to check it out.

I’m bumming a bit to be missing what is sure to be one bombastic bash over at Geno’s Rock Club in Portland tonight. Beginning at 9:30, Slyvia, The Coalsack in Crux, Conjjjecture and Superorder join forces to blow 2012 out of the water with some super huge rock and roll. These fellas mean business, so make sure if you’re into turning things up to eleven that you make it downtown for this show.

North of Portland, over at Inpanema’s in Bangor, The Blast Addicts will be partying into 2013 with some party rockin’ and rollin’. Starting at 9:30, bust out those Party Pants and get ready to bust some moves with this super fun rock band.

I’m getting out of town this NYE and heading up to the mountains to check out another fun show at Moose Alley in Rangeley with the fellas of The Mallett Brothers Band. With tons of good people, good food, and good tunes this is sure to be one helluva way to ring in the New Year. If you’re up in the area, be sure to come on by and stomp boots with me! The party starts right around 8 o’clock tonight.

With two successful shows here in Portland, the fellas of Rustic Overtones bring their Rooms by the Hour gig down to Dover, NH tonight with a show at The Dover Brickhouse to ring in the New Year. Starting at 9, the fellas will be performing their 1998 album in its entirety. Rooms is the band’s third studio album that garnered them major label attention and became a tried and true fan favorite. Old Abode will start things off with an opening set, followed by Rustic to bring in 2013 with a bang.
