Flask Lounge keeps it fresh with an entertaining indie show this Monday night
Well, that was quite the weekend. I hope you all got out and played. I had some serious fun this weekend up in Rangeley at Moose Alley where I did a little birthday bashing with The Mallett Brothers Band. Needless to say, my Party Pants lived up to their name this weekend. It doesn’t look like the weekend is coming to an end just yet. It might be Monday, but there are a slew of great things to check out all around our little seaside state tonight. Here we go!
North of Nashville continues their Monday night residency at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland tonight. If you’re looking to kick back with a beverage and enjoy some bluegrass tunes, then Empire is the place to be. Jay and Andrew of North of Nashville infuse their love of pop music with a bunch a bluegrass for a sound that it sure to make you forget any case of the Mondays. The fellas get started right around 8 o’clock this evening.
Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland invites you in for an evening of eclectic indie music. Beginning at 8pm, singer-songwriters Zoe Boekbinder, Mal Blum, Lisa/Liza and Speaker for the Dead will be playing some tunes. It should be a great show in a pretty intimate setting, so check it out this Monday night.
If you’re looking to take in a little local open mic action then swing on down to RiRa on Commercial Street where drink slinger and music maker Evan Walsh will be hosting his weekly open mic series. Evan aka EvGuy encourages people to get creative tonight by playing some music, telling some jokes or just generally showing off any entertaining skills one might have. There are always instruments available for use and drink specials aplenty, so check it out starting at 8pm.
Mondays also mean that it’s time for another weekly jam session over at The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland where The Players Ball will be taking place once again. Tonight one and all are invited to either come and watch or come and play with some of the area’s most talented cats. Basically, it’s a free-for-all jam session where everyone is encouraged to participate. Things get funky starting at 9 o’clock, so check it out.
If you’re north of Portland this evening be sure to stop on by Slates Restaurant in Hallowell to check out their Monday Music Series. Tonight they feature The Colwell Brothers who will be celebrating the release of their second album, Guilty Pleasures. Bob and Pat Colwell are well known for their electrifying live performances that capture the brothers’ passion for everything blues, soul, and R&B. The party starts promptly at 8:15 this Monday evening.
