Dustin Saucier hosts a free open mic night at Slainte

By: Holly Nunan

I’m assuming that most of the world may still be in recovery mode from this past weekend’s non-stop partying. For the most part I took yesterday off, but I’m still slightly dragging a bit of bum today, but it is a new year and one shouldn’t spend all their time alone watching stupid cat videos on YouTube while eating Wheat Thins in their studio apartment, so it’s time to fold up the sweat pants and make some magic happen. Here’s what’s on the docket for this Wednesday evening.

If you’re looking for some free open mic action, then be sure to swing on by Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge over on Preble Street in Portland for this week’s installment of their open mic night. Starting at 8 o’clock you can check out local musicians sing some songs or even sign up to play some tunes of your own. Hosted by local singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier tonight’s free event should be a good time, so check it out.

Local folk-rock artist Brian Patricks will be playing a handful of original tunes paired with classic covers that everyone knows and loves tonight down at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. Patricks starts doing his thing right around 8:30 tonight and the event is free, so stop by if you’re hanging around this evening for some good tunes and maybe a pint or two.

The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland kicks off another year of highlighting local hip-hop with another installment of Rap Night this evening. Each and every Wednesday night local rap royalty Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra team up to host their epic weekly party featuring sme of the brightest rappers around. Things get fresh starting at 9 o’clock, so head downtown and check it out.
