Sweet, wonderful Wednesday, welcome back! Let us all rejoice in the fact that we are one day closer to the freakin’ weekend and celebrate by getting out there and having some fun this evening. Here we go!
There are a couple of open mic nights to check out around Portland tonight, the first kicking into gear around 7 o’clock down at the Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street. All are welcome to sign up and perform and then also stick around for a featured set of tunes from local singer-songwriter Sammie Francis. It’s free and totally fun, so check it out if you’re hanging around town tonight.
Jazz meets blues over on Fore Street in downtown Portland tonight at The JMB Organ Trio get ready to play some quality tunes at Gingko Blue. Starting at 7 you can check out the act alongside special guests Darren Whitney on sax, Andy Argondizza on guitar and Tracy Moore on vocals. It’s sure to be an evening of good times and good tunes, so swing by and check it out.
Some more open mic action will be happening over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where you can check out local musicians do their thing or even sign up to play some songs of your own. Each Wednesday evening starting right around 8, local singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier hosts this free and fun event. This week’s open mic will be followed by a Halloween Dance Party that gets shaking right around 10.
Down at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out the Squid Jiggers who are back once again with some quality folk music for your earholes, which is perfectly paired with an ice cold beer this evening. The duo will be getting things going starting right around 8 o’clock.
The Clash of the Titans pairs two heavy hitters of alternative rock against one another this week as Nine Inch Nails takes on Deftones for the Clash crown upstairs at the Empire in Portland. Things get crankin’ right around 9 o’clock tonight.
