Check out Contrapposto and Conjjjecture at MECA's free show tonight

We’re making our way, my babies! We are half way through another week already and it’s never not exciting to inch closer to the weekend, so throw on those mid-week Party Pants and get ready to work it out this Wednesday evening. Boom!

Jazz it up a bit this Wednesday evening with an early show down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in the Old Port where Standard Issue will be playing all of the classics from the Great American Songbook. Tonight’s gig gets underway right around 6pm and is absolutely free, so swing on by, have a cocktail and enjoy some golden era tunes.

The always entertaining and equally talented Cozmik Zombies front man, Pete Witham, will be hosting a special open mic night down at The Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook. All musicians are welcome to show off their stuff during this 50s/rockabilly themed evening. A P.A., monitor and mics will all be set up, so grab your ax and some friends and make your way into downtown Westbrook starting right around 8 o’clock this evening.

If you’re looking for some free open mic action in Portland, then be sure to swing on by Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge over on Preble Street for this week’s installment of their open mic night. Starting at 8 o’clock you can check out local musicians sing some songs or even sign up to play some tunes of your own. Hosted by local singer-songwriter Dustin Saucier tonight’s free event should be a good time, so check it out.

Check out a totally free and completely unique electronic rock and roll show at the Institute of Contemporary Art at MECA in Portland this evening. Beginning at 8 o’clock you can check out inspired sets from Contrapposto and Conjjjecture.

Over at Bull Feeney’s on Fore Street in the Old Port the Squid Jiggers return to the stage with their own brand of folk music that’s infused with barley, sugar, yeast and hops – basically some good ol’ fashioned drinking music! Tonight the fellas get the good times rollin’ right around 8. It’s free and they certainly won’t run out of beer, so check it out this Wednesday evening.

The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland kicks off another year of highlighting local hip-hop with another installment of Rap Night this evening. Each and every Wednesday night local rap royalty Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra team up to host their epic weekly party featuring sme of the brightest rappers around. Things get fresh starting at 9 o’clock, so head downtown and check it out.

The Clash of the Titans at Empire Dine and Dance on Congress Street gears up for an epic night of music filled with the sultry and gruff voices of two great songwriters as Leonard Cohen takes on Tom Waits for this week’s battle. Things get torrid upstairs starting right around 9:30pm.
