Check out Andi Fawcett at Slab in Portland tonight

So I’m not entirely sure what happened, but it definitely felt like Monday drop kicked me straight in the face. Despite such an assault, I’m determined to sport the biggest grin I can muster and turn this Tuesday around with some live, local music. If you’re looking to give this week the one-two punch with some good times and good tunes, here are some shows to take in this Tuesday evening

Local singer, songwriter and guitarist Jim Gallant will be performing a free show at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in downtown Portland this Tuesday evening. Don’t miss an evening of stories and song as things get underway right around 7 o’clock.

The Thirsty Pig in the Old Port’s weekly open mic event, The Exchange, returns this Tuesday with a night open to any and all music makers who are looking to workshop, collaborate and showcase their own original tunes alongside other local artists during this free, all-ages shindig. Hosts Jim Betts and Joel Thetford will be sharing songs and stories as well as encouraging artists of all genres and musical abilities to get up on the mic and do their things as tonight’s open mic gets underway at 7:30.

Check out some soulful acoustic folk sounds courtesy of local musician Connor Garvey as he plays a show that you can attend from the comfort of your own couch! Connor’s Concert Window performance will air here starting at 8pm.

Don’t miss another installment of Slab’s Solo Tuesday Night Music Series, which showcases the solo work of tons of talented locals at Slab on Preble Street in Portland each and every Tuesday night. Starting at 8:30 you can check out this week’s featured performer Andi Fawcett as she goes solo and acoustic for tonight’s performance that’ll showcase some of her original pop-rock tunes. This shindig is free and all ages so find some friends, grab a slice and have some fun this Tuesday!

Alt-rock Alien Ant Farm (you know, the dudes that covered MJ’s Smooth Criminal back in the early 2000s) will be live on stage at Port City Music Hall in Portland tonight. Syracuse rock and rollers, Nasty Habit will kick off tonight’s 18+ show starting at 9 o’clock.

Check out tonight’s open mic that’s tailored especially to DJs and producers over at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland. Tonight’s event allows up-and-coming record spinners to take a chance up on the decks alongside DJ Kid Ray. All you need to participate are some records, CDs and a controller. All formats of music are welcome as things get cranking right around 9pm.

Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port presents another acoustic open mic night with local folk-pop artist, Jacob McCurdy. Join in on the fun as Jacob invites any and all musicians onto the stage to perform at this free event, which gets started at 9:30.

Take some time to chill out this Tuesday with some soulful and psychedelic instrumental jams courtesy of trip-hoppers Jaw Gems as they fellas lay down some good tunes at Local 188 on Congress Street in Portland starting right around 10pm.
