All right, some of us are just getting back into the swing of things this Tuesday. So it’s officially time to take on reality and ease on into another workweek. Thankfully Tuesday night seems to understand that just because it’s back to work doesn’t mean that the party’s got to be put on hold. There’s a ton of cool stuff happening around town tonight so if you’re trying to move reality from the forefront this evening here are some things you can check out.
A night of indie/pop punk takes over Studio 250 tonight as Ohio act Citizen alongside State Champs, Candy Hearts and Deep Woods take to the stage beginning at 6 o’clock. This is an all ages show, so check it out if you’re near Read Street in Portland this evening.
A truly kick butt show thunders through The Asylum in Portland this Tuesday evening as the Dio Disciples pay tribute to the one and only, legendary Ronnie James Dio. Also joining in on the fun and prepared to throw up some devil horns tonight will be Witchburn, Gone for Days and Hessian. Things get cranking around 8:30pm.
Tuesday night means another installment of Drop It: Open Decks night over at Flask Lounge in Portland. Beginning at 9 o’clock, you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open tables. All you need to bring with you to participate are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones! Tonight Drum & Bass extraordinaire DJ Eluside will be getting things going with an opening set. As always, Drop It is a free event and is always a happening time, so go on and check it out
And if you’re strapped for cash this Tuesday evening, head over to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge for some free karaoke courtesy of DJ Ponyfarm. Get ready to belt out some of your favorite tunes all night long beginning at 9 o’clock.
I’m not certain if all of you know this, but one of my favorite things in the whole entire world is putting on a mustache and belting out some Queen. Tonight I shall dig out my unitard and ‘stache and make my way over to The Big Easy in Portland for this week’s Cover to Cover, which features local rock act Clubber Lang taking on Queen’s classic album Sheer Heart Attack in its entirety. Clubber Lang front man, Sean Slaughter, was actually selected last year as a finalist for Queen’s search for a new front man, so he knows his Freddie Mercury pretty dang well. Not only that, but Clubber Lang will be debuting their brand new album, Get a Taste, during their set of originals to get the night started. This should be a doozie, so come by and compliment my facial hair, as rock n’ roll gets underway right around 9pm.
The Oak and The Ax on Main Street in Biddeford is gearing up for another fantastic night of indie folk rock with Horse Feathers, Frank Fairfield and Portland’s own Old Soul. Beautiful sounds start hitting your earholes beginning at 8 o’clock, so check it out if you’re south of Portland tonight.
