Huzzah! One of my favorite days of the week has returned, and once again, without fail, it brings us a surplus of awesome things to check out. So let’s go ahead and Thursday, shall we? Here we go!
Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in downtown Portland welcomes local act Pretty Girls Sing Soprano to the stage to fill the space with beautiful sounds and songs. Since their inception Pretty Girls Sing Soprano have quickly turned heads with their tight, clever and original harmonies. You can check them out starting at 7 o’clock this Thursday evening.
Local Americana gypsy-rock act, Muddy Ruckus & The Burners will be lighting up the stage at The Liberal Cup in Hallowell this thirsty Thursday evening. Get ready to stomp your feet and have some fun as things get underway right around 7pm.
Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland has all the soulful blues you’ll need this Thursday as they welcome Poke Chop & The Other White Meats to the stage for a night of music, which gets underway at 8 tonight.
The fellas of North of Nashville head up to Rangeley this evening for gig over at Moose Alley. Starting at 8:30 the duo will be providing catchy originals as well as toe-tapping covers of all of the best country twang your little heart could desire.
Work it out tonight at Port City Music Hall on Congress Street in Portland where a whole lotta dancing is sure to be going on with John Brown’s Body and The Pimps of Joytime. Things get feisty starting at 8 as The Pimps of Joytime bust out some funk, soul and dance pop to get things flowing, followed up with the infectious reggae and dub sounds of John Brown’s Body.
Local act An Overnight Low celebrates the release of their brand new record Euston with a full night of indie pop rock upstairs at the Empire in Portland. Starting at 9 you can check out sets from Boston’s The Field Effect and Portland’s own Worried Well, as well as, obviously, An Overnight Low as they perform tunes off of their new album.
Flask Lounge in Portland gets loud this Thursday evening with a night chock full of rock and/or roll for your earholes. Starting at 9 you can anticipate to have your hair blown back by Mad Gingers and Diapasyn and special guest DJ Hinote.
Local blues brothers and talented troubadours Samuel James and D. Gross team up to bring you a night of tunes over at Blue on Congress Street in Portland. Starting at 9 these talented dudes will be singing some tunes and plucking some guitar strings to help you thoroughly enjoy your Thursday evening, so check it out.
Kilcollins will be pop-rockin’ all night long down at RiRa on Commercial Street this thirsty Thursday. Starting at the fellas will be busting out all sorts of tunes that you know in love alongside some catchy original stuff. Tonight’s show is free, so check it out if you’re downtown this evening.
The fellas in Hello Newman are ready once again to pump out the jams with a free night of fun upstairs at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Starting at 9:30, you can rock out to all of your favorite 90s tunes. There’s never a cover charge, so swing through if you’re feeling a little nostalgic this evening.
Vinyl Tap is ready to party down at Gritty’s in the Old Port this thirsty Thursday by busting out some catchy cover tunes that span everything from The Beatles, Huey Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Stevie Wonder, The Dead and a ton more. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer – it is Gritty’s after all, so check ‘em out starting at 9:30 tonight.
Local drummer Chicky Stoltz will be drumming up some action (see what I did there?) with a free show at Sonny’s in Portland this Thursday evening. Chicky’s music is both dark and charming and shifts between bar blues and Americana, so be sure to check him out tonight as things get underway right around 10 o’clock in the Sonny’s lounge.
