A night full of nerd rock as Rush takes on Tool at tonight’s Clash of the Titans at Empire Dine & Dance

Joe Cocker is providing the theme song for my Wednesday because I’ll tell you what, I’m feelin’ all right and you should too because this Wednesday is packing it in something fierce! So many awesome things are happening all around town this evening so why not celebrate being halfway through the work week with some good tuneage this evening? Let’s do this, Wednesday.

The Songwriters in the Round showcase celebrates its 3rd year of shows at Frontier Café in Brunswick this evening with an evening of music from some of Maine’s most prolific talent. Beginning at 7, Lisa Redfern brings four talented Maien songwriters to perform in an intimate unplugged setting in Frontier’s theatre for a night of compelling songs and stories. Tonight’s line up features performances from Jud Caswell, Emilia Dahlin, David Dodson, and Peter Miles.

Port City Music Hall on Congress Street gets prepped for a night chock full of indie pop rock as Jukebox the Ghost gets ready to take the stage this evening. Special guest Matt Pond will kick things into gear with an opening set that gets underway right around 8 tonight.

Swing on down to RiRa on Commercial Street this evening where Mitch Alden will be performing. Mitch Aldren is the creative force behind alternative rock band Now is Now, stop by and check out his solo set starting right around 8:30 tonight.

I am exceptionally pumped for this week’s Clash of the Titans match up as I have the pleasure of reprising my role as a Canadian man tonight for this week’s battle as TOOL takes on RUSH. The ultimate evening of nerd rock commences right around 9 o’clock upstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland. Stop on by and check out my best Geddy Lee impersonation as well as take a peek at the ridiculous drum set ups for the event. It should be a good time for nerds and non-nerds alike.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland is ready to help you hurdle the hump with some rock n’ roll. Tonight check out sets from California rockers Fever Charm as well as The Fundamentals (which consists of Chris and Sasha of When Particles Collide) as they turn things up to eleven and get ready to party all night long starting right around 9.

Rap Night brings the thunder to The Big Easy in Portland tonight as emcee Robust gears up for a featured showcase. Hosted by Ill by Instinct and El Shupacabra, this epic weekly party features some of the brightest rappers around. This week things get fresh starting right around 9:30 with an opening set of rhymes courtesy of the one and only Ryan Augustus.
