6gig & Paranoid Social Club turn up the heat tonight at The Big Easy

Oh hey there, rockers and rollers! Just one last push and then it’s the freakin’ weekend, babies, and I’m ready to have some freakin’ fun!  Things kick off with a mighty, big bang this weekend so make sure you’ve done your stretches, taken your vitamins and pressed those Party Pants because it’s high time that we do it to it this evening! Let’s roll!

Let’s kick this Friday evening off with an evening full of tunes from Maine singer-songwriters Brian Patricks and Bob McKillop who will each be playing sets at Local Sprouts right on Congress Street in Portland. These two talented gents will start playing right around 7 o’clock. It’s a free event geared towards the whole family, so chck it out if you’re downtown a little earlier this evening.

If you’ve been hitting the slopes all day and are looking to unwind up near Sunday River, then swing over to The Phoenix House and Well where Mitch Alden will be performing this evening. Mitch Aldren is the creative force behind alternative rock band Now is Now and performs a special solo set starting around 7 tonight.

Boston roots rockers the Adam Ezra Group take the stage of One Longfellow Square in Portland tonight to celebrate the release of their latest album Daniel The Brave. The dance floor will be open with seating available in the balcony, so check out this party as it gets underway right around 8 o’clock tonight.

If you’re looking to spice things up a bit this evening and are in or around the Thomaston area then be sure to head on down to Billy’s Tavern where beginning at 8 o’clock you check out some classic Cuban music and salsa dancing with the one and only Primo Cubano.

I’m thinking the place to be if you’re hanging around Portland tonight is The Big Easy on Market Street where two veteran local bands will be teaming up for a night of steaming hot rock and roll. Beginning at 9, Paranoid Social Club and 6gig are ready to tear the place down. Tickets should still be available at the door, but I have a hunch that this is gonna be a crowded one, so get there early and rock out late.

A big ol’ night of local indie rock and/or roll promises to shake things up over Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland tonight. Starting at 9 you can check out sets from The Black Firs, The Deliberates and Yes We Kin.

If you’re looking to check out a little Drum & Bass action this evening then mosey on down to Flask Lounge in Portland where The Digital Mercenaries will be delivering sounds that are sure to make you shake your hips all night long.  Tonight’s event starts at 9 o’clock and is absolutely free of charge, so check it out.

And if you’re winding down after a day on The Loaf, why not rock out your Friday at The Rack? Tonight the Steve Jones Trio will be shaking things up starting at 9. With influences ranging from The Stones, Dylan, The Beatles and Hendrix, you can bet that whatever they’re laying down it’ll definitely be something you wanna pick up, so check it out and enjoy some good vibrations.

Things get funky upstairs at Empire Dine and Dance on Congress Street in Portland tonight with Chaos Sauce and Shut Down Brown who promise to keep you dancing the night away with their blends of progressive-rock, funk, and soul. There’s no cover, so check it out right around 10pm.
