Clothes, hair, make-up – the whole point of it all is for self-expression. When I spotted this group of friends laughing outside Bard Coffee, they almost looked like a cool girl band – or at the very least like a bunch of girls that would be a whole lot of fun to talk to. The purple mohawk made me nostalgic. Why didn’t I take risks like this when I was younger?

We talked a bit about where they shop. Most of them like to check out local thrift shops or Goodwill and their eclectic style is proof of that. I find it refreshing when I spot some young folk experimenting with color and style. After all, if you can’t use fashion to have fun, then what’s the point?
