A top-secret thrifting hot spot – revealed!
When I told a vintage seller* that I was going to do a post about this spot, she begged me not to do it. But I can’t lie to the people! It’s my responsibility, nay, my obligation to tell you guys about this mecca for thrifting.
It’s the Salvation Army Thrift Store on route 1 in Brunswick. From the street, it’s completely unassuming and it’s at that busy intersection where route 1 and Pleasant Street fork. It’s a bit of a cluster so most cars just keep on going and don’t bother to make any pit stops. But if you do decide to turn in here, you won’t be disappointed.
This location is huge. Massive. GINORMOUS. And the selection for mens, women’s and kids is equally amazing. I generally spend a good two hours here combing through women’s racks and then making my way to the mens. I’ve had excellent luck finding great vintage sweaters and dresses here as well as some nice name brand, trendy items too. It can take forever to get through it all so if you aren’t a patient thrifter, you will definitely be overwhelmed.
My favorite part about the mens section is the “great wall of t-shirts”. IT. IS. INSANE. To give you a good idea of how large this wall is, the tees are color organized and here’s just a sampling of their gray section.
Nutty right? I love finding those broken-in, almost tissue-thin tees that are softer than a cat’s meow. Most of them are $.99 so for those of you who claim you can’t buy anything for a dollar anymore – YOU ARE WRONG.
I won’t show you photos of my latest haul from here. Let’s just say it involved jumpsuits and orthopedic sandals. Thank you, Salvation Army.
*FULL DISCLOSURE: This was not a secret revealed to my by a local vendor, simply a friend that I often go thrifting with. I’d never give up a secret from a local biz. What do you think I am? Wikileaks?
