Aimsel Ponti

Aimsel Ponti has been obsessed with - and inspired by- music since she listened to Monkees records borrowed from the town library when she was six years old. She's a huge fan of the local music scene and covers it along with national musical happenings in her "Face the Music" column. You'll also find her out and about absorbing live music like a sponge and roaming around local record shops and flea markets. And hey, tune your radio dial to 102.9 WBLM every Friday morning at 8:30 am to hear Aimsel wax poetic about her live music picks for the week with The Captain & Celeste. ONE MORE THING! Catch local and nationally touring acts in the Press Herald newsroom on Aimsel's Newsroom Sessions

A Tongue-in-cheek musical homage to "Downton Abbey"

“Anticipation…is making me wait. It’s keeping me wai-ai-ai-ting,” sings the wonderful Carly Simon.  The song can be applied to many situations, not the least of which is the wait for return of “Downton Abbey.”

Well kids, the wait is over and season four starts on Sunday night! Reserve your favorite spot in front of the tube early folks because January 5 belongs to The Crowleys. (actually, it belongs to their staff if we’re going to be really honest).

So much happened in season three. I’m still reeling and drying my tears but I’m also concerned that some of you aren’t current and so, because I’m sensitive to this, I will avoid spoilers. Mostly.

What I have done, however,  is assemble a collection of songs that I have hijacked for my silly purposes and here I shall  post them in tribute to several of the show’s central characters.

Remember now, this is just for fun.

Robert Crowley, The Earl of Grantham:

Cora, the Countess of Grantham

Violet, The Dowager Countess

Lady Sybil Branson (sigh…)

Lady Mary Crawley

Lady Edith Crawley

Tom Branson (and I suppose Thomas Barrow)

Mrs. Hughes. Because I love her.

And last but not least, Matthew Crawley. I am entirely unkind.
