The Holiday Show

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – or at least that’s what Andy Williams tells me. That means we get to partake in favorite holiday traditions, like decorating the Christmas tree, making gingerbread cookies…and going to see the annual Holiday Show at Greenhut Galleries! It’s on view right now until January 18, 2013.

Greenhut is a favorite gallery of mine, so I just might be a bit biased when I say this is a fabulous show. It features work from 37 Greenhut artists.

If you read “Holiday Show” and immediately think of glitter, reindeer, and a plethora of red-cheeked Santas, then you are mistaken. The works on display are vivid, elegant, arresting, humorous, contemplative, and the furthest you can get from kitsch.

One of the things I enjoy most about Greenhut’s shows is that there is always a variety of media on display – and that holds true for the Holiday Show. There are paintings, drawings, sculptures, and more. But, true to Greenhut’s style, the show is cohesive and interesting, with something new to discover at every turn.

If you’ve got the funds, any of these pieces would make pretty impressive Christmas gifts. I know I’d appreciate finding a few of them underneath my tree!
