Spotted on the street: sandy transplants
I think I speak for everyone when I say our thoughts and well wishes have been with all our friends along the east coast who have been affected by Sandy. I ran into these two Mainers, who currently live in New York City, while they were at home with family waiting out the storm before heading back today.
Though these two are quite the citified combination (love/need his jacket) I was madly in love with her vintage hat. When I asked her about it, she told me she had picked it up moments ago from Kittery Salt Vintage at Portland Flea-for All. The hat had belonged to owner Kim Donovan’s Grandmother, who wore it in the 1950′s.
Later that day, I ended up at the Flea where I told Kim that I snapped this photo of her Grandmother’s hat on the streets. She was thrilled to hear it and was glad that the hat went to someone who would really appreciate. Don’t you just love when a fashion story comes full circle?
