Maine’s a beaut. Ain’t no doubt about it. She’s smart, too, and has quite the personality, but we can’t help stopping to stare at her rocky coast, cascading falls, and miles of mountaintops. No matter where you go in this state, there’s something unique to gawk at, but we’ve culled together a list of some of the finest spots to get an eyefull of Maine.
Right now, the school that focuses on photography, radio, writing and multimedia is showing its latest not-just-your-average-exhibit with “Photoville ME,” which features the work of former students in a 20-foot by 8-foot metal shipping container placed in Congress Square. The exhibit runs through Aug. 22 and it is free and open to the public.
Because we Mainers are constantly surrounded by all the awesomeness our state has to offer it’s easy to forget about some of the fun, cool, touristy things that get visitors jazzed about a stay here. Many of those things have to do with the beauty of Casco Bay. But looking out at the water from a dock along Portland’s Commercial Street doesn’t really cut it. Boarding an authentic wooden schooner does.

First Friday Art Walk may bring some inspiration for that belief with a show focused on Maine sunsets, some unplugged music and inexpensive massages to get your body rejuvenated.
