Jewell has surveyed a wide range of traditional music styles, from folk and jug band leanings to country gospel, Uk garage rock and Chicago blues. Sweetback Sisters Emily Miller and Sara Bode recall the best of country music from the Everlys to the Judds with their precise family-style harmonies. They are a renegade retro band that mixes up country, swing and honkytonk.

The Chocolate Church Arts Center began life as the Central Church, designed by architect Arthur Gilman in 1845 and erected in 1847.The church originally had a large pointed steeple on top of the current bell tower which blew down in a storm about 20 years after the church was built. The church is a classic gothic design, intended to look like English brownstone structure, with huge soaring beams inside suggesting a cathedral atmosphere with amazing acoustics. It ranks as one of the most high style examples of wooden ecclesiastical architecture in Maine. The original bell still hangs in the bell tower- it was cast in 1846 by George Holbrook, who apprenticed under Paul Revere at Medway Foundry In Massachusetts. While the buildng has fallen into disrepair several times in 163 year history. it is now in a phased, ongoing period of restoration and renovation as funds are rasided for each phase. The building now serves as a regional performing and visual arts center, with music and theater on the main stage nearly every weekend of the year. The recently renovated annex building, which dates to the late 1800's, now house a brand new art gallery for the visual arts, where exhibitions are open to the public during regular box office hours. The lower level of the annex house the Curtis Room, which is available for rental for receptions and meetings, smaller concerts and black box theater.
