Telling Room founder Susan Conley will teach an adult workshop February 6th, 2013 from 6-9pm here at The Telling Room. This one-night workshop will investigate the middle ground between the facts your life presents to you and the made up stuff that lives in your imagination. We will mine your own life experiences through innovative writing prompts and guide you away from the land of autobiography into the world of fiction, where your own voice is subverted and your past only serves to enhance the stories you’ve invented on the page.

Susan Conley’s recent memoir, The Foremost Good Fortune, chronicles the years she and her family lived in Beijing. Excerpted in the New York Times Magazine and Daily Beast, this book won the Maine 2012 Literary Award for Memoir. Her novel Paris Was the Place (Knopf) is forthcoming in July of 2013.
