“Be In Love” on February 15th at The Big Easy
January, 2013 (Portland, ME)– The city of Portland (and the world) fell in love with the
“Be in Love | Playing For Change ~ Playing For Maine | Maine Academy of Modern Music” video featuring local musicians performing the song “Be In Love” by Portland’s own Dominic Lavoie.
With 38,812 viewers still swooning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrkWKdkN-CM), the Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) is celebrating love and music by brining the video to life on February 15th at the Big Easy.
The celebration opens with young love at the All-Ages Show 6-8pm ($10.00) featuring MAMM bands Beware of Pedestrians, Simple Burden, Emergency Sirens and Guilty Bystander.
Things get steamy at the 21+ Show at 9pm ($15.00) featuring musicians from the actual video, including Dominic Lavoie, The Fogcutters, Dave Gutter, Anna Lombard, Jason Stewart, Sara Hallie Richardson, Kyle Gervais, Ryan Zoidis, Emilia Dahlin, Sara Cox, Kenya Hall, Rafael Keilt-Freyre, Amanda Gervasi, Megan Jo Wilson, Chas Lester and Kelly Bryand. Each musician/band will perform a short set and the “Be In Love” video will be recreated live onstage with the full ensemble to close each show. Tickets available at Bull Moose Music.
“This video was a labor of love, all the filmmakers and musicians donated their time and talent in the name of music and we want to celebrate them. As a music school, it’s our mission to foster music, this video helped us do just that, creating awareness for our school, as well as the incredible local talent we have in our city,” explains Jeff Shaw, executive director of MAMM.
Since 2007, the Maine Academy of Modern Music has been providing music lessons, venues and networks to help musicians navigate the world of rock. Students of all ages and abilities are introduced to innovative and inclusive music programs that promote resiliency, self-expression, creativity and determination. MAMM offers Rock Camps, Music Lessons, Rock Bands, Gigs and the annual high school rock off called The MAMM SLAM. Located in Portland, ME, MAMM services the greater Portland area (Kennebunk – Freeport) during the school year. Throughout the summer and over school vacation weeks, MAMM’s programs often reach other parts of the state, including Machias, Bar Harbor, Kennebunk, and other communities up and down the Maine coast.
